Fellow Music Elitists and Snobs UNITE!

Post by I AM ME »

Anyone on this board into any critically accaimed, publically hated music? Indie, Canadian Undersground, College radio mostly.

Psst
Most Emo doesn't count, liking Starting Line, or Armor for Sleep doesn't make you special. :P

Alan when you need him?

lol forsure

seriously though i see so many people that buy these "hip" emo cd's at the cd store, and they think they're so music hip, but really people, liking fall out boy or starting line doesn't make you all that hip. They're even in our promo section so i don't think they're really that obscure

Thank you.

This thread makes me  so bad it hurts.

Anyone who thinks the music they listen to makes them "hip"... is not hip. Anyone who thinks the music other people listen to makes those people not "hip"... is not hip.

good point

That's not really what i'm getting at anyways, really i just started this thread as a way to see if anyone else liked some of the same music i like. It seems like everyone on this board is mostly into pop-punk, emo, and pop-rock. Nothing wrong with that, but i wish Alan was still here. The thread was named such because most people like me that like that kind of music get branded that way so it's kinda poking fun at myself.

oh and i still stick to my emo comment, i work in a CD store now and you wouldn't believe how many people come in and think they're so cool because they bought starting line or something. They don't realize that i've sold like 30 other copies of the same album. Consider this my venting.

So if you try to be hip, you're not hip, and if you think listening to hip music makes you hip, then you're not hip...

would like to make a case to have the words "hip", "cool", "trendy", "popular" removed from the English language.

i think you can say you're hip only if you listen to the tragically hip.
because damn, they're so hip, it's in their name. so you must be hip by association.

In other words... there is no such thing as being "hip". Everyone's a dork and should just accept it. :duncan:

But wouldn't calling yourself (or your band) "hip" make you unhip?
