I was thinking tonight as I was driving home and listening to OMA. New stuff always inspires me to listen to old stuff. Anyhow, I think it's been really cool to see how the band has changed and evolved since Naveed. Granted, we have a new band member. The music, the lyrics. I think that they were sort of the age and place that I'm at now during Naveed. It makes me wonder where I'll be at in my "HIPT" phase.

if you guys dont mind my song by song... in black text of course:

angels losing sleep - olp has always sounded border line unique and this album really has it's own sound. this songs a good example... not the best but superior to anything gravity had besides bring back the sun

will the future blame us - just cuz olp sounds happy every now and then doesnt mean the songs not amazing... still not the best tune on the album, but maybe a nice single

picture - if youre a clumsy era olp fan like me, i hope you like this track, i think it really shows their ability to be unique and not have to make every song sound like some sort of epic... like creed or something. nice synth

where are you - poppy soundin but in terms of melody and harmony one of the best olp songs... youve all heard this anyway... personally, i like how it builds up and up

wipe that smile... - not much has changed from the live version like 6 months ago, but WAY fucking cool guitar effects that seem to make the song for me. i also think if youre ever going to hear something from olp that's at all close to Naveed this is as close as youre going to get... this song ROCKS

love and trust - somebody said this album seems to have two halves: track 1 thru 5 and track 6 thru 12. i completely agree, on top of this being one of the best songs theyve ever done, it introduces the far superior 2nd half of this album. other than the chorus i can see the u2 references in this song...

boy - if theres anything in the world that has ever not been u2 and sounds like u2 it's the verse guitar on this track. not a bad song but doesnt seem to fit in as much. in terms of craft it still beats just about anything on gravity...

apology - not to be cocky or anything, but if you dont think this is one of the best olp songs ever you need to be committed. beautiful. ive never heard raines vocals this good in my entire life

world on a string - with the exception of gravity every album theyve done seems to have a track that has big giant BALLS. sounds different than the rest of the album, and shows off olp's uniqueness and ability to do something different. this song is awesome and is so different than any other olp i could hug and kiss it...

dont stop - good song, maybe the least exciting on the album, but sounds pretty. it reminds me of the gin blossoms just a smidget.... i like how he whispers before the chorus

walking in cirlcles - youre either gonna love it or hate it, i fucking love it. this and wipe that smile are the loudest olp songs in awhile.

al genina (leave a light on) - FUCKING INCREDIBLE, only 2 minutes and 15 seconds is a rediculous shame. this is the car crash/wonderful future/under zenith of this album. somebody said 'haunting' and that's perfect.

thanks for readin kids

I really wish people would stop dissing Gravity in their reviews of the new album. We've had more than enough of that the past 3 years, thanks.

I agree. I think it's my least favorite, but I still love it. People just get these ideas in their heads and there's no going back after that. They'll just keep saying the same thing over and over.

To be quite fair, Gravity was an album that alienated some of the fanbase and really changed OLP's sound... so people are gonna be interested in home this one shapes up. It's inevitable.

Back to the topic of discussion... Even though I haven't heard the whole thing yet I am sure that this is their greatest album yet.

I'm going to be cool and post a review... ALL IN BLACK! Just like Mr. T... mmm, gold chains and afro's.

Angels Losing Sleep - This was my favorite of the clips, I fell in love with the song. I may have worn out the clip a little, but the song was still fantastic. Very cool ambient feel in the prechorus and stuff.

Will The Future Blame Us - Pretty good song, I'm slightly annoyed by the "Tired and alone, and I feel like letting go" part. It's just screams appeal to me lyrics. Other than that good song, and I would not be surprised if it were to be the next single. I agree with what Nikki said about the three songs on the olp site being the singles, that makes perfect sense to me.

Picture - I love this song. It's very tranquil, the only thing is I don't like the backup singers partway through the song. They sound cool, but it's a bit out of place. Where Raine is going "you can't screaaaasm" and you hear that high pitched ahhhhh in the background or whatever. It's kind of cool but it seems to disappear to quickly or something, it just seems fake, added in, recorded, you know, like it was pieced together. I know that's how albums are done, but I hate it when you can tell.

Where are you - I dunno, it's poppy, what can I say? Fun song, but it feels choppy and pieced together. It lacks "flow". but maybe we've heard two versions of it, so it's difficult to tell. I love the old chorus, but I showed my friend the original version after having shown her the new one, and she likes the new one better. So maybe it's just a matter of what you heard first, and what seems "right" to you.

Wipe That Smile Off Your Face - This song is pretty cool, fun to sing along to. It's not my favorite, but I still quite like it. Especially towards the end, for some reason.

Love and Trust - Didn't like this one as much at first, I couldn't see what the hype was all about. But that guitar (the one we heard in the mixy mixy video) is very very cool, and it goes together very well. A friend who I played it for said the drums sound like some Kelly Osbourne song, I'll have to check that out. I'm really digging this song, I don't see as much of the U2 thing as I do in Boy.

Boy - Good song, took a few listens to like it, I hear the U2 in it but it still sounds like Raine to me, not Bono. The high pitch guitar definitely is U2ish. Good song.

Apology - As said before, Raine's vocals have never sounded better. Jeremy got to put a little bit of a jazz element in this song, with the drumming. It's unpredictable, even for me as a drummer whose able to "guess" what Jeremy is going to do really easily, since I know his style very well. The song make you want to close your eyes and conduct with your hands, while mouthing (or singing) the words. Just one of those great feeling songs.

World On a String - Still not sure about this one, but it's growing on me. It's a fun song, and I like it more as it goes on. The beginning still sounds like it's one of those low quality clips or something, it's kind of strange.

Don't Stop - I like the beginning of this song, but the chorus gets on my nerves for some reason. I like the guitar solo, and it was surprising to me when there was more to it than the solo you hear in the promosquad clip, which I liked as well. The song itself is pretty good.

Walking In Circles - It's still a good song, but I think they may have ruined it by adding the backup singers. This seemed to suffer the same fate as Not Afraid. Still a good song, but it lost the edge that it had previously.

Al Genina - Poor Aunt Jenima... *sigh*. This is a great song though, I agree, when it's over it's disappointing, you just want it to go on. Nevertheless I love it, and I think it's very eery, creepy, and haunting. I'd say it's a great finish to the album.

I guess people will always have something to say about Gravity> it seems that is the most controversal OLP CD..
