Maybe you should re-read your own post before you go accusing me of things, buddy. I read your post the first time, and I just read it again. I stand by my initial reply.

No "Don't Stop" isn't the full version, it's a looped version (if you're talking about the leak off torrentspy)

But the quality is diferent of the clip of 2:07

If it's 3:43, it's not a loop. No chance of even mistaking it as one.

Oh, there's a 3:43 looped version, made with parts of songs that we've already heard in the original promosquad clips but from a better quality source.

I'm confused, a typical American would reply complaining about how American's always assume their country is the best?

The new songs are great!

You can easily tell in the song, Al Genina (leave a light on), that Raine was obviously affected from Africa. I'm basically in love with that song!

And the song, Boy, is just freakin' amazing!! For Raine to pull off sounding like Bono is amazing!!!

Then my favourite song on the album, Angels Losing Sleep. This song is just perfect in my opinion.

I can't wait to see them live in Moncton and in Boston! wOOt!!!

Smooke Out! :O

Boy is amazing, one of the best songs they have done in years, Apology is one of the best love songs I have heard for a while, Al Genina is just amazing, Angels/Picture/Future are epics, Wipe is ok, not as great as it could've been, Walking in circles kicks ass, I love how it is now, Love and trust is also awesome

The only songs im not to big on are Where are you, Dont stop, World on a string.

Overall 9 songs on the cd are absolutely amazing

DISCLAIMER: To all those who have not heard the album and have chosen not to listen to it before AUG 30, please skip to the next post or to the next thread as this is a collection of my opinions on the songs on the albums. If you dont want to hear about the songs, dont come in this thread.

let me break down my opinion

angels - very good song, but not to the point most ppl here absolutely love it

future - amazing song, but it lacks the emotion in the bridge that it had live

picture - amazing, i just love the chorus

where are you - im liking it a little more now then when it came out...still like the original chorus better though

wipe - good song, but the guitar solo on the 2003 tour that was like 2 mins long was way better than the over produced and much shorter version now

love and trust - absolutely my fave on the cd...the guitar riff in the chorus is amazing and i love how the chorus melody is untraditional and still very catchy

boy - dont know what all the hype is about....its a great song, but i think its okay to sound a bit like old u2 but not EXACTLY like old u2...its a carbon copy

apology - nothing overly exciting here

world on a string - like it now even better than the clip...the bridge rocks my socks

dont stop - love this one too, the chorus again is very good

circles - i was excited when i heard that had changed it alot since the last tour, but disappointed with how they changed it

al genina - this is the one of the few songs that screams emotion...too bad its so short

OVERALL - i think the album is over-produced and i think the guitars are drowned out too much....i was hoping the album would be heavier, but its rather mellow....and i dont hear or feel the emotion in raine's voice like on the old stuff....it seems like its just him talking, not singing, for the most part

The reason why I checked out the leak is because I needed to know if the album was going to be worth buying. Needless to say, I am going to buy it. :)

Agghhhh too much talking about the new album.

Do you think you guys could write in black text or start a new thread or something?
Open your eyes to nights and days, you close them up and float away
and somehow inbetween you've got to master lying to yourself
you back the cause, get out of school, you get a job, the job gets you
and somehow every day you end up serving somebody else
now if that ain't panic that you're feeling, then you damn well better start
you can drive it into that head of yours with the hammer in your heart.

And it's alriiiiiiiight now, take the world and make it yours again.

I think if you visit this thread titled "new songs" you are going to get more than you want to know. Its tough to appease you here Soozy since making new threads is practically taboo if there is a previously existing one. Since the leak is out people are GOING to talk about it.

I really want to hold off, but I ended up listening to the majority. I have to say its quite the album! I really think Apology is a strong song on this album, one of my favorites.

Yeah, I like it how people do this. They'll claim others have no "self-control" when they download an album leak, yet they'll still click on a thread that's obviously going to be talking about the new stuff. I was on another band's board and there was a thread called "the album leaked!" and someone who clearly thinks they're a mod (but are not since the board doesn't have any) was telling me not to talk about the new album... in a thread called "the album leaked!" So I ripped them a new one.

I'm gonna write in black, at the suggestion of Soozy. Highlight if you want to read my initial thoughts.

Well... I must say I enjoy the new Our Lady Peace album. This album is far and beyond Gravity in simply every aspect. As seems to be the consensus, Angels Losing Sleep and Boy are wonderful songs, and like Matt I am very impressed with Love & Trust. When I first heard it, I didn't like it, but it has grown on me more than any song on the album and I think it would make a wonderful single.

There are three songs, however, that jumped out to me at first listen. Those three were Apology, World on a String, and Al Genina. I am so impressed with Apology... it's so different yet so great, and Raine's lyrics read like a poem. What stands out here are the strange vocal style Raine uses and the strange guitar licks Steve uses, and they work beautifully together. The entire chorus is basically Raine moaning and it's actually very cool.

World on a String, I must admit, shocked me. I wasn't too high on the clip but if I could pick one song off this album to just jump up and sing, this one would be it. Sure, it's a little cheesy, but it's a fun song and I like it a lot.

Al Genina is flat out gorgeous. And I mean gorgeous. It is tear inducing good. I personally think it is the most emotional song Raine has ever written and you can just feel what he was feeling when he wrote it. If it wasn't so short, it may well be their best song ever.

I'm not so high on Don't Stop, and I think Walking In Circles is the worst song on the album. Wipe That Smile isn't the best, but Raines amazing screams at the end give it a noteworthy mention. Where Are You fits in well with the context of the album and it's well placed after Picture. One thing I noticed here is that even the albums worst songs have some good things about them so they aren't unlistenable. Walking In Circles has a cool bass solo, Don't Stop has some weird guitars, Where Are You is energetic and is best when played loud. Compare these to songs like Made of Steel which was unlistenable to me.

Steve's guitars are very strange, almost have a liquid quality. I like the sound on the album, as it's much more distinctive than the crunch that were the guitars on Gravity. However, I wish Steve got more soloing time because what he does do on the album is great but there simply isn't enough of it.

Another thing I noticed on this album is that DUNCAN IS BACK. His bass lines are much better and much more prominent than they were on the Gravity CD, and his bass solo provides a bright spot on the album's weakest song (Walking In Circles).

I don't know if this CD will win back the fans lost on Gravity, but I do believe those fans may see a light at the end of the tunnel from this album. It is clearly a logical, natural growth after Gravity and you can see the band incorporating new styles into the sound as well as including some old styles.

If you're an old OLP fan that liked Gravity, I think you will LOVE this CD. It's poppy with an edge, which is how I would describe OLP in general anyway. By contrast, I think some of the teeny-bopper SOT fans may be a little turned off by the unorthodox sounds on this CD. For an example, my sister loved Gravity, and really enjoys Where Are You. However, she asked me what the hell Raine was doing in Apology.

Overall, an enjoyable listen with some drawbacks. I'd say 7/10 on first few listens.

Best Four: Angels Losing Sleep, Love & Trust, Apology, Al Genina
Worst Four: Where Are You, Wipe That Smile, Don't Stop, Walking In Circles

:)

I really don't think Boy sounds all that much like U2 that it's a carbon copy. You'd have to listen quite a few times in my opinion to be reminded of it. Eh. I think it's an excellent song.

I think everyone is pretty well thinking the same thing with this album. Less edge, but still really good. So why say what has been said already :). I'm really loving it, and I'm looking forward to the DVD. I hope that every one of you goes out and buys the album. You owe it to them!
