Hello all. This'll be the 3rd time I've joined this forum to talk about a new release in the weeks before it comes out.(SM, Gravity, now HIPT) Each time with a different sn. I'm a tad ashamed that apparently I'm so unbelievably spectacular that I can't remember either of my previous sn's (is there any way to check that?) So, hello to you all again:)

So, a question for all those that have heard the new album. Everyones been saying that some of the songs are very U2 like. I'm just curious as to how exactly. Has Steve been whipping out some Edge-like solos? Is Raine's lyrical style beginning to resemble Bono's? Any info at all while I sit here waiting for the new album to come out would be awesome.

Also, on a side note, this :yannic:

is the best emoticon ever. (Although I'm not sure the tree spirits were originally intended to eat deviant smileys :lol:

yeah, apparently its leaked. But no one really knows where. :lol:

If you go on the hub you can download some clips of songs that were released on the CC and judge for yourself.

I just realized that the people that could field this question prolly aren't doing so because of that whole jealousy issue that popped up in another thread.

Saman, yay! Someone else loves the tree spirits! Have you actually seen Princess Mononoke (or any other Miyazaki movies?). He rocks. Still haven't seen Howl's Moving Castle though.....

A while back they released the song Not Afraid on a beer promo CD. It sounded like U2. I think the guitars and drums are what caused it, and I expect the guitars and drums to be what made some of the new songs sound like U2 also.

yep! i own princess mononoke and spirited away. and i've seen kiki's delivery service, castle in the sky, and the cat returns, although that wasn't a miyazaki movie, just a studio ghibli one. i've seen howl's moving castle too, but only a pirated japanese version, since it didn't play where i live. i'm planning to buy that one too when it comes out :mrgreen:

ergh. Sadly. Not Afraid def. isn't one of my faves (though it rocked at the Juno's). The album seems like it'll be better than that though (judging on the clips I've heard).

Aaaaaand now I need to stop listening to that damned 30 second clip of Angels Losing Sleep or I'll burn myself out on it before I've heard the whole thing. (ala All For You off Gravity).[/quote]

*bows before Rusty* Forgive me oh mighty poster and thankee for the welcome. Yeah, I consider myself relatively hardcore olp-wise. been a fan since around 97. Here's hoping I'll be floored by the new album (reeeaally reeaally hoping)
