hey everyone. i have a deep and passionate loathing for both my cameras and for photobucket, so forgive me if you think these are ugly. i'll try to show the betterish ones first. more will come later.
first and foremost, a master study drawing. as you can see it was poorly planned out and her hair crashed into the corner of my sketchbook before i could complete it. but that might have been for the better anyway. who does she think she is, to have so much hair? yeesh.

uggh gross, photobucket is terrible. thusly i will proceed to load up the following as attached files.
attached is the first part of a printwork project in which i carved out a kind of rubber stamp into soft oleum, rolled ink onto it, and printed it. this picture is of the carved stamp (pretty badly stained with ink), the other that i will post after this is of the final print i made from it. due to my terrible cameras you won't be able to see much of the detail in the final print, but what i did is roll black ink at the tiger's head which gradually changed to a dark purple ink.
if you look closely at the bottom of the final print you will see the chinese symbol for "tiger", printed backwards. it is meant to represent the fact that we need to reverse the way we are treating our environment and these wonderful creatures. for this reason the piece is called "Reverse the Onslaught".
hm and i guess that's all i've got to say about this. enjoy/despise.
What's up with all these CMers being insanely talented?

edit: and also, if anyone can suggest some interesting faces i can draw this summer, or send some of their own clear face snapshots or whatever, that'd be great because i'm never taking art again in my life. and i want to make good use of those empty pages in my sketchbook before i say goodbye
school is over, so some of my previously lost works have come flooding back. my art teacher likes to keep our creations without telling us, which is stealing i guess. but anyway.
one of the things i managed to salvage was this little clay bowl from our pottery unit. i handmade it using the coil technique, so it's a little uneven round the edges. then i summoned what i could remember from previous chinese calligraphy classes, and carved the Life symbol that we've all come to know and love. green and pink underglaze, clear overglaze, kiln-bake, voila!
Nice work Jen. You should try out lightbox7 for your uploads. It doesnt let you save really large images (proportion wise) but they come out clearer and they give you more room. Just make sure you save without compressing them at all if they give you the option.
i've been working on a whole bunch of stuff this summer...uh, i'm just midway through all of them but as soon as i finish them this thread will be alive and well.
a few of you might have been on the hub when i said i was gonna draw this...well here it is! i'm not posting the original picture so you can't compare the two, and therefore i'll be sparing my self-esteem
i stole my dad's cam to take this one. too bad i don't know how to get rid of the date stamp, but HURRAH FOR CLARITY!
