Verdict on the Raine's Falsetto issue

Post by happening fish »

I think his voice is a little grating at times without the interesting octave changes to round it out. Anyway, what's YOUR opinion? Is there more falsetto or less falsetto than you expected? And what do you think of the result?

I still like Raine's voice. I miss the falsetto though.

Defying Gravity is now the OLP Discussion thread.

Falsetto: There's more than I expected, because everyone said that it was gone. But I wish there was a lot more of it. I always enjoyed it, and now it's gone. Hopefully it will be back for album #6...

I personally find the falsetto/octave changes grating at times.

I think that with Raine (or at least with this thread) the whiney stuff is included in the falsetto. It's just any note that he hits which is in a higher octave than one might expect.

Ahh, those were the days...

There are so many places on Gravity where it sounds like he wants to hit some high ones, and then doesn't. I really wish Bob Rock hadn't suggested that he (forced him to) get rid of it. Some of the songs would have been a lot better with it.

Oh well. 'Tis a time of change.

that's not a *true* falsetto.... falsettos are what boy bands sing in

I think the next album will be haerder anyways, there just getting used to Bob and his style. Im betting you will see more fallsetto, we need that nasal whine.

Yeah, I agree. There was more than I expected b/c people said it wasn't there at all. I can kinda understand why he would put it to rest a little bit, though, seeing as he did it a LOT in Spiritual Machines (If You Believe, All My Friends, etc.). But I do hope he brings it back. He used it an awful lot during the concert, so that's a good sign!!

There are songs are gravity that don't have the same olp feel because he doesn't reach the higher notes... *cough*story about a girl*cough*

There are a lot of points where, even though I know it's not coming, I sit there thinking "Common, do it! DO IT!", and then he just doesn't. It's sad. But, different. I'm glad he didn't do as much as on SM. I love that on SM, but it wouldn't work to do it that much again so soon. Maybe eventually.

*wishes REALLY hard for this to come true*

I thinks Raine's "whiney" voice is what I miss the most on Gravity. And the more thought provoking lyrics.
