Raine's voice style

Post by Bananababy »

Ok, we've all noticed that for each CD, Raine's voice always is slightly different. (example:think Neon Crossing>The Story of 100 Aisles>Blister>If You Believe>Not Enough)
Remember, this is nothing about the music itself- just his voice and the way it sounds!!
Although I think each style is amazing(and Happiness is my *God* album), I gotta go with Raine's Naveed voice. I remember reading in an article about Naveed, they described his voice as "chilling"... I just think it sounds so cool! I love the part in Supersatellite where he goes, "Traansparrent human.....being.." ahh, i just gives me goosebumps to listen to it- I love it! Happiness has to be my second favorite- it's kind of a mix between Clumsy and Spiritual Machines.
boo.

Shoot!! I voted Happiness but I meant to vote Clumsy. I was thinking well, Happiness is my favorite album but once I hit submit I thought of Superman's Dead. Darn!!! :P

He had the strongest vocals in Naveed by far. I'm not saying the most diverse, but the strongest. Just listen to the way he can yell in Dirty Walls. Now that's powerful music.

I love them all (which is one of the reasons that I love OLP) but I had to go with SM. His voice is just the most diverse on this record, and this has to be just about the only rock album in which the singer knows how and when to utilize a falsetto.

Definately clumsy. I had no choice, that album got me so addicted to his voice, I felt like I had this weird connection with him, like I actually knew him, even though at that point I had little to no idea of what he looked like, nor could I tell you his name without checking the case. But god, that voice... :)

And actually, as a side note, the vocals on Naveed always kinna bothered me, probably cause i heard that AFTER i melded clumsy with my brain so they sounded like a step backwards to me

That is exactly how I felt the first time I heard his voice too. He really does have an amazing voice.

I know you guys are annoyed by the lack of falsetto/octave changes, but Raine really did some good work on Gravity.

I like his voice the best in Happiness.... His voice has so much emotion and it drew me in...that's why I say it's their best album.
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

I can't decide. Though I loved the vocal style of 'Naveed' and 'Clumsy', I love his voice on 'Gravity' too.
"You're a prime time fool for everyone to see...You don't understand and you don't try to see: You're in a cage and we've got the key." 8O / :wtf: /  - OLP

"I don't wanna rember falling for your lies." - OLP

happiness is my favorite album, so i like his voice from that the best.

if you think about it his voice get's subtly higher in each album until you get to gravity where he doesn't do any of the high stuff at all.
