Honestly, and without poetic pretension, I am at a loss. You are so unlike any man I’ve dated. So I cling frantically to you, and get upset when you pull away because I can’t read you. Your signals are so contradictory. When we are together, you seem happy, you’re close to me. But then you pull away, and I rarely see you outside of work. I know you care, but it’s hard to convince myself of that sometimes, especially when you aren’t a particularly open or social person. I feel like I’m wheedling you, and I worry that I’ll drive you away. Hell, if I were you I’d be annoyed by now. I want to be certain I’m not going to lose you. I feel like I need to hang onto every moment because I feel our time slipping away. I am the pessimist seeing things over before they’ve yet begun. The very differences which make me love you drive me mad with confusion. My confidence in myself is shot, and every moment I wait for you to realize who and what you are with, and to abandon me in search of someone better. I know I should probably back off so that I don’t smother you. But I’m so scared of being alone. I’m not comfortable enough with myself to deal with it well. And I know I can’t resist cutting much longer. And that scares me. I have no control over my emotions. I’m unstable and all over the place, and the only time I’m calm…is when I’m with you. You numb me to pain, and you make me feel secure and safe. When I’m with you it’s like I’m drugged, and I can be free from everything else.

The free concert will take place on July 2 at Barrie's outdoor Park Place concert venue, formerly known as Molson Park.

Performers will range from Canadian icons like Gordon Lightfoot, Bruce Cockburn, Randy Bachman and Burton Cummings to bands like the Barenaked Ladies, Blue Rodeo, Our Lady Peace, the Tragically Hip and Great Big Sea.

Set to begin at 11 a.m. and end at 8 p.m., the July 2 concert will be hosted by Dan Aykroyd and Tom Green. Free tickets, limited to two per person, will be distributed beginning Thursday via the Ticketmaster website.
