Its like the new parts of the song were tacked om amd quite frankely, the other version was better. Needless to say, I'm still up in the air about liking this new album.

Professional Canadian.
Ok managed to get it, not from the hub though! But anyway, even if someone of you guys don't like Bob Rock and what he's done for the band, and to an extent, I'm one of those people, you have to admit - he makes music that sounds good. It is nice to hear, it's not always original, but it sounds good. So I think we can safely assume that he woudln't let any kind of sketchy stitching together of songs llike this go. I bet it's just a test thing, and nothing more. I'm sure if this is infact the new single, that it'll sound much better once we hear it on the radio.
I have to disagree. This song is not very good on the ears. It sounds like a band trying to become big but just unable to get it to click. It's like they're one hook away from a hit and they just can't find it and this is how it is on every single song.

The only thing that upsets me is there are actually great songs on this album! and they had to choose this one. Angels loosing sleep is good, will the future blame us is good, wipe that smile off your face is good, dont stop is good, and vampires is really good! And if walking in circles is on it, thats good too! ANy of those above songs owuldve made good singles, but they had to choose that one. Even on the clumy congress forum, Best day was voted last for single.. why would they pick it? The album has some major good songs on it, and they picked the WORST possible one. Its liek realeasing Clumsy and making "Let you Down" the single, ( Only OLP song i dont like). Bad choice for the band, and for the fans. WE shall see though... Maybe itll sound diff on radio.

It would be nice to think that it was simply pressure from the record label. I personally loved what I heard of "Angels Losing Sleep," but it probably just didn't scream "first single!" And while this song isn't the worst OLP song I've heard (read: Somewhere Out There... probably), it certainly is a disappointment because I have heard a number of new songs that actually sat a lot better with me than this song or the majority of the last album. But at least I know there'll be some songs I like on it, which doesn't make me totally lose faith that I'll like the album overall.
Wow, everyone is really bashing this song. Ever since we heard the clips I was praying that this would be the first single because it's just perfect as a nice way to come back. It appeals more to everyone that than the other songs would as a start. I think the new version is actually really good. There's nothing that sounds tacked together. And if I'm deaf and can't hear parts being like that, we have to remember, this is just a clip as well. This song has a lot of power to it and it's really catchy. It's different than the older stuff, of course, but that's not a bad thing. The old stuff is classic, the new stuff is, I have to say, really nice risky music. Take Gravity, risky music trying to appeal more to main stream. It ended up being a let down because of how fast it was produced and how flat it sounds at times. But sure, it had its hits and succeeded in appeal to mainstreamers. I love the new direction, it's probably the best sound they've had. It's really operatic and multi-sounding which is what I did want to have. I think if this song, "Where are You?" is at least like 4 mintues long, it'll have a lot more to it that will give it justice.
Oh god... I didn't even think that this song could be 4 minutes long... that means double the crappiness.

for some reason, i'm gonna bet that once the actual single comes out, it'll be fantastically amazing. then you guys are gonna come back here, and be all "what the hell?" on this thread. that's just my guess.

...and this is me hanging on / i'd burn our initials in the sun if it would shine / anxiety chokes me like razor wire / if hate's in your heart man, you'll take what you're given / wake up / i'm not the only one / it's never goodbye / go ahead and play dead / if everyone's a casualty, then take your time, there ain't no trouble / these wounds they will not heal / ambition can be a tricky thing / what the hell do i know about rape anyway? / this is not what i hoped for / ain't it so weird how it makes you a weapon / who will be there to tell me how stupid i am? / those living for death will die by their own hand / and it's me that I am spying on / pick up the pieces and live with the stars / hurry up and wait / things have never been so swell / they're always the ones who slowly drift / be great / ...and this is my world.

This song isn't easy to listen to.
Well, that's your interpretation, and in many cases, mine as well. But I've had at least 10 people listen to songs off of Gravity, and all of them have loved the album. So that's saying something. I don't think it's really fair for us to judge, seeing as we've, A) heard a previous version of this song, B) been a fan for a long time and have winessed a pretty drastic change in their "style".
I'm just trying to be optimistic, everyone is shooting things down left and right and I don't think that's fair. Then when the album comes out, maybe we can make one thread devoted to bitching about the album.
