Anyone else apply to university this year?

Serious discussion area.

There's a very good chance that the year after next, I will be going out east, Montreal perhaps.

Has anyone heard anything about good schools for journalism?

Ryerson in Toronto has a good journalism program.
I can't wait until the day schools are over-funded and the military is forced to hold bake sales to buy planes.

I applied for a bunch, Ryerson is great. Carleton is the place to be though. Western have a good program but it isn't called Journalism it's Technological Media something-or-other. If you're looking into Montreal, Concordia also have a program which I applied, it's pretty easy to get into if you jump through all of their hoops. Keep your options open, I interned at a newspaper and one of the tips I got from my editor was not to just apply for journalism programs. Apply for other ones too, "You can be a great lawyer and still be a good journalist, but you can't be a great journalist and a good lawyer." He reccomended applying for some Humanities or English programs as well since Journalism ones are so compteitive. He also said that some newsrooms prefer writers from college rather than university students. (Some food for thought). Good luck!

Apparently York has a good campus and a bad one, which is which? I plan on going to the Keele one. I've been there before and it seems pretty nice.

I use to play hockey for a team based out of York University... I don't remember which campus but it's where the Ice Gardens is which is one of the best multi-rink arenas I've been to. I just remember thinking that the campus looked like it was just a bunch of buildings turned into a university, but the again I was only 14 so what did I know?

I got into Concordia. Ryerson take forever to respond. Mid-May I think is the earliest you can get admission. Good luck!

I do not get this statement at all. Why can't you be a good journalist and a good lawyer? But you can the other way around?

glendon's the good one, it's a smaller bilingual liberal arts campus, whereas keele is the main campus but it's got a reputation for being in a 'bad' part of toronto *according to my parents, i dont know about that*

no, a lot of my friends got into Ryerson in march...
you have to, you just have to trust me
whoever i was then i can't ever be again
the faith you've found i've never felt
the terror held in wedding bells
the comfort in "there's no one else"
the truth be told, i'm never going to know
