oh i didn't direct that towards you .. i meant to the person who posted above you
when they said that kids don't care about the charity, they just want the bracelet .. i just meant who cares about that .. at least the money is going towards a good cause even if the kids care more about the bracelet then the cause.

I care because it's pretty fucking disgusting that people NEED INCENTIVE to donate to charities now, otherwise they would rather have nothing to do w/ it.

I work at Stop & Shop (a supermarket) and every year we try and raise money for the Jimmy Fund. We sell these little scratch tickets that have coupons for free shit on them and people are so ANAL about getting those fucking things. Do they really NEED a reason to donate $1 to kids that're terminally ill? Obviously they do.

Sure, the charity is STILL getting their money and they can still put it to good use and save a life or whatever but it's not coming from a good place; people aren't being charitible, they're being selfish.

The end!

i understand what you're saying and sure it would be great if people donated out of the goodness of their hearts but meh .. people suck .. what can you do? i do what i can for the charities that i support and don't worry about anyone else. if the charity makes more money because people are selfish, that's still more money for the charity and more lives saved which to me is all that matters in the end.

Engraved? They're not made of gold or silver, Jim... they're rubber. They're molded like that.

I'm just using the phrasing they use on their website.
I can't wait until the day schools are over-funded and the military is forced to hold bake sales to buy planes.

oh I just got an answer back from them.

Hello!

Thank you for the inquiry! We do not disclose figures pertaining to how much it costs to produce a product. Regardless of us reaching $25,000 at a minimum that is how much we are donating and then anything above and beyond that. It is for a great cause, and thank you for your interest.

ya thats what I thought too. Personally I say everyone should just donate their two bucks and not get a bracelet. I mean it isn't hard to say how much profit is made off of each bracelet and you should be open about it if its for charity. I really wouldn't doubt if the manufacturer or even this company is getting something out of the deal.

The thing that I think is good about the bracelets is if someone saw you wearing one and liked the color, they might ask you where you got it and then get one, too. Sure, their reason's superficial, but they'd still be donating to a charity you care about.

yeah, it's about spreading awareness. i wouldn't have known any of these charities even existed if it wasn't for the bracelets.

Does it really matter how the charity get's it's money? They get money either way. Sometimes people will donate just for the sake of donating, sometimes they will donate because they want something. The bracelets spread awarness about the charity and people pay more, where is the downside? Today I got a tea at Tim Hortons, I didn't want anymore coin in my pocket, so I put my change in the charity box in there, is it horrible I did that because I didn't want anymore coin, or is good that the charity got some money?

Queens Of The Stone Age-Someone's In The Wolf

Once you're lost in twillights's blue
You don't find your way, the way finds you...

Tempt the fates, beware the smile
It hides all the teeth, my dear,
What's behind them...

So glad you could stay
Forever

He steps between the trees, a crooked man
There's blood on the blade
Don't take his hand

You warm by the firelight, in twilight's blue
Shadows creep & dance the walls
He's creeping too..

So glad you could stay
Forever
