If an election is called I'll be voting for the person I think can do the best in representing my region. I'm not a fan of partisan politics so basically I'll vote for whoever I feel is best and then wait and see what the country does in terms of voting for parties.

I'm really afraid of what a Conservative Canada would do to us considering the state of things south of the border. .

Me freaking too.

I know the Liberals have messed up in a big big way, and that they probably shouldnt be in power, but i'd rather have them or the NDP in a second over Stephen Harper. I don't think I could stand to see a Conservative Canada, Its been Liberal my whole life, I dont want Canada's somewhat peaceful liberal nation to get wrecked. Four years is a long and short time. The amount of religious sentiment the conservatives hold, and will probably hold over our heads is very disconcerting, and although I am very very biased against the Conservatives, them being in power would not be a good thing.

Having said that, neither, apparently is the Liberals.

Delaying Gay Marriage, is ridiculous. It is a step towards equality, and delaying it more, in my opinion, would look shameful on Canada's part. Especially when the reasoning behind it, to the conservatives, is RELIGION. Its incredibly ridiculous.

The other fear I have with the COnservatives is the fact that they supported and would have went to war in Iraq. Now, considering the US President of the moment, its not farfetched to think that other wars could soon be popping up. With Stephen Harper in government, Canada would be going to war. That is something NOONE wants. Canada was polled, pre-iraqi war, and disagreed with the war, but Stephen Harpers opinion didn't change.

I think we should have a leader who actually has our best interests at heart, and although Martin and the Liberals are facing a huge scandal that is all their fault, I think that they're the best representation we're ever going to get, in terms of equality, being against wars, etc.

You do realize the Conservatives will not win a majority government right? They will need to be held up by another party, all of which are "left wing" of their platform which means if they want to keep power they have to appease another party and will have to sacrifice some of their beliefs.

I'd move.

Bye bye Alex, because honestly the Conservatives want an alliance with the Bloc. If they can show that they're supportive of the Quebecois and their needs then more people from Quebec will be likely to vote for them in the future. The Conservatives are already trying to rebuild the foundation in the province that they've had before 1993 in the Mulroney days. Mulroney won easily by getting the west vote and the Quebec vote, and Harper and the Conservatives want to try and do the same, and along with that hopefully pick up at least 1/3rd of the seats in Ontario.

I already asked my parents if I could move back home if the Conservatives got in  . Although it wouldn't really solve anything, It was funny to see their expressions.

And yes, i'm aware they'll have to sacrifice beliefs, but Gay Marriage and Pro-War are BIG beliefs, not miniscule sidenotes.

I agree. I hope they merge, fall apart, a vortex comes and sucks all the tories to a deserted island and Canada has a big peace march. Seriously though;

My opinion is mostly formed on our local MP. Merv "The Perv" Tweed. He's a fucking redneck, backward, country music lovin, yokel. He's also so incredibly ignorant to just about everything in the world that it's embarrassing for Western Manitoba.

Actually the Provincial Conservities here are complete incompetent idiots too. There's a reason why the NDP run MB, mostly because the Conservitives here are so unprofessional, and fucked everything up so bad last time they were in. No one here really trusts the liberals to do anything good for MB, just like the rest of Western Canada. Which is why our province is so weird because Nationally we vote Tory, and Provincialy we vote NDP, Liberals arn't even in the race in our province.

Actually guys, i know lots of people think NDP ideas would never work, or that they're finacially imprudent. But much of Layton's platform was based on what's working for Doer's NDP party in Manitoba. The NDP given the province a huge boost since being voted in. They've kept their promises, and even exceded expectations. And contrary to belief they run a very efficent budget. They've been more efficent then the old Conservitives ever have and now are building up for the huge energy demand there will be for clean hydro energy when Kyoto goes into full effect. We pay North America's lowest energy levels, and have north America's largest source of clean hydro-power, our whole province is hydro-powered.

No wonder Winnipeg has North America's cleanest water and air of all cities over 500,000.

But Anyways, NDP are cool, Vote for them if you believe in them, it's the only way things will change and they'll stop being a small party.

lol i guess this means i've decided not to vote Liberal, even if it means Conservitives coming in. But Green Party people can screw off, just vote NDP.

i'll consider it, if it looks like the Conservitives are going to have a majority then maybe i will. But here it's pretty assured that Merv "The Perv" is going t o win again. so voting NDP is a just me doing my part

The NDP will never win in Ontario because they screwed up when they were given the chance to govern back in the early 90's. Even though the province was in a recession, they still screwed up big time, and basically ended up making way for the Conservative "Common Sense Revolution".

I don't want the NDP in charge because Ontario already shares enough of its wealth with the other provinces. The more national programs that are implemented, the more of our tax is washed away to other provinces. Basically Ontario is too rich for the NDP in my opinion, and wouldn't do anything for us.

and although I am very very biased against the Conservatives, them being in power would not be a good thing.

If you're admittedly biased, then how you can assume you know what's best for the nation?

Also, what's wrong with liking country music?
