As far as being an individual goes, you're being an individual by speaking your own opinion. Kudos.J-Neli wrote:I'm not close minded. Shit on me if you want. I'm all for "being an individual" but to me corset piercings are incredibly stupid. Its stupidity ranks slightly ahead of people who pierce their nose between their eyes, and people who get their ears pierced with massive holes. Just my opinion. Think what you want.
Same to you Lori, though I think the close-minded comment came from misinterpretation of people's intentions. I'm sure there are things you think are gross that others like.

My electronics stocker has those in his ears. I could put my finger through them sumbitches. It's like he has grommets in his ears. But he's a damn good worker so I don't even care.J-Neli wrote:...and people who get their ears pierced with massive holes. Just my opinion. Think what you want.

The girl who pierced Monkey's labret had them stretched so far that her ear lobes dangled to her shoulders.
Attractive.

ya I mean ok they look fashionable but when you're 60 and don't want them anymore you're going to have massive earlobes. Same goes for all of these piercings. It just doesn't make sense to me.
as for "epitome" I actually thought that was the french spelling, so I'm sorry I spelled it with a Y.

Not for exactly when I'm 60 but when I make decisions I tend to think about the future. Which is why I will never get a tattoo or anything that can leave permanent scars or marks. I would just hate to be 50, 60 whatever age and regret doing whatever I did to my body when I was younger.
Also, don't people ever think about their future in terms of jobs and careers? As much as in a perfect world we wouldn't care if someone had a massive piercing through their nose, the fact is that it can be the difference between getting a great job and something crappy. Could you take someone seriously who walked into a board room meeting with a bar through their nose? I don't think I could, and whether that makes me a bad person or not is no big deal because that's the way the world works.

well, the people who i know with facial piercings aren't exactly the type of people who WANT to have a job where'd they'd have to ever be in a boardroom so that could be why it doesn't matter to some people.

but i don't think that everyone values jobs in board rooms as the most satisfying and fufilling sort of career. i mean, maybe it would be for you, and, in that case, you should probably refrain from getting your nose pierced. but i know a hell of a lot of people who would be miserable in the white collared sphere of professionalism. the way you describe the world as working only applies to certain types of work. so... if you have different values and goals for yourself in life, then what the heck, if it makes you happy, pierce/tattoo it up.J-Neli wrote: Also, don't people ever think about their future in terms of jobs and careers? and just to clarify, my "ew to the ribbon girls" comment was not being closed minded. the pictures just grossed me out. i say, if it makes you happy, go for it - it's a personal and cosmetic choice, i couldn't 'care less. but that doesn't mean i can't find it aesthetically unappealing.
Lick a finger: feel the now.
No I know. I meant that as an example. There are a lot of jobs though where you won't get hired because of something like a piercing.

what about regular ear lobe piercings? what's your opinion on that? and stretched ears can go back in size. it all depends on the person, and to the extent that they're stretched, and the way in which you stretched them in the first place.

I don't care if someone pierces their ears. I just think its stupid when people do this...
There's no way that is going to go back to normal if she ever wanted it out. Honestly I don't care if you pierce stuff, I just think its stupid when people go above and beyond normal piercings, such as putting that massive hole in your ear, or the nose ones like this
or like this
I'm not fond of tongue piercings either but at least you don't have to look at those.
I just don't like piercings/tattoos very much, and I feel most of them are very unattractive.

technically, it could go back to normal. i'm not too sure on what the point of no return is, but with some stretched ears, you can go back to normal.J-Neli wrote:There's no way that is going to go back to normal if she ever wanted it out.
what exactly are "normal" piercings? what exactly is it that makes them "normal"?I just think its stupid when people go above and beyond normal piercings,
