Well, I had to take out loans just to pay for school even when I was living at home.
But, I had scholarships those years and still got loans, so I just saved all that. Now that I'm out I have like double the loan money so it's pretty easy. The way I see it, it's worth it if you want it that badly.
I don't know. I just kind of realized that it's only my safety net because I was too afraid to admit to myself that I wanted to go into history/political science. My parents always told me it was pretty much dead end unless I intended on being a teacher ... so I did what I needed to please them. And, I regret it so.
You can always change your major!
It might piss them off but you're living your life for you, not them.
Besides with a history/poli sci degree, you can go on to law too
I feel your pain. I've been in university for three years and all the majors I've picked have been for my parents because other majors don't prepare you for a specific job, thus making it hard to find employment.
In my fourth year, I'll probably rebel and do something I want to.
I'm a politics and psych major, and let me tell you that there are a lot of things you can do with a politics degree, and in fact it is probably one of the most stable jobs because if you worked for the government in some capacity you know the government will never shut down.
Paying all this money to do something you don't want to do is pointless. If you're going into a program just to please your parents you're doing it for the wrong reasons and are going to live a life that is not yours. The fact is that you're an adult and can make your own decisions, and I know that if my parents didn't support my choices I would tell them that it is too bad because that is what I want to do. It is not rebelling. It is your life.
I can't wait until the day schools are over-funded and the military is forced to hold bake sales to buy planes.
"It's a great thing when you realize you still have the ability to surprise yourself. Makes you wonder what else you can do that you've forgotten about"

Totally true. My mother is always telling me to get a job with the government. And I ssy well what sort of major do I need for that? Uhhhhhhhh. Yeah.
I'm sort of a late bloomer. I'm just now starting to do things for myself and not for everyone else.
