i definitely read the title as "what do your parents do?" and didn't notice anything funny about it at all. anyway, my dad's a civil engineer and my mom stays at home and does home things, and volunteers at two libraries.
edit: my mom calls herself a domestic goddess.

my mom is the manager of a dry cleaners, and my Dad has his own landscaping and snow-plowing companies in Buffalo.
I can't wait until the day schools are over-funded and the military is forced to hold bake sales to buy planes.

my dad is a golf course superintendent.
my mom is a homemaker. she didn't really have time for a job considering she had 8 kids. however, she used to work at the university of wisconsin for something- i never really understood what she did anyway.
My papa is a Chartered Accountant, but works as a General Manager for the Canadian extension of a large American company. He deals mainly with complex technological equiptment.
My mother is in Real Estate. Not commercial, but for homes and such. She is a fantastic salesperson.
My dad works on electric meters and traffic lights for Bristol Virginia Utilities. My mom is a note processor for a bank in Abingdon. My stepdad works for Bristol Tennessee Utilities as and also does contract work. My step mom works at a manicure/pedicure place in Bristol.

Ok, maybe I'm juat a hick, but that's how people say things around here. When someone gets around to asking that question, they usually say "What does your dad do?". Not, "What is your Dad's career?"
