When I was five I didn't even understand that my mom was putting me in piano. She took me to the music school, and in the room where they have the group children lessons, there were pianos, but there were xylophones and tambourines and castanets and cymbals too. She asked me if I wanted to come back every week and I said I did, not understanding what I was getting myself into.

aww, i wish my mom forced me into something. hah.
when i was younger i wanted to dance and play piano.
and do ballet.
and take riding lessons.
and swimming lessons.
and a lot of other stuff.
but we couldn't afford it.
I see. So it's sort of like obtaining your teaching certificate in the states. I'm thinking of going that route, I'd probably be about that much time out from it, or a semester more. Including student teaching.

Me too. I'd love to be able to play piano or guitar.

it's only after playing an instrument for so long that you realize how difficult it is to get where you are, and how easy it is to forget everything within a few short months.
i absolutely HATED and LOVED the piano so, so much. at the same time. it took me so long to decide whether to quit or not, and when i finally did, i was cheering and kicking myself. but the other day when i tried playing again after almost two years, i realized i really did love the piano after all, so i hope i can find time to pick it up again.
there are so many instruments i want to learn. like steel pan and cello and double bass. i've started the guitar though. and err...i'm not really getting anywhere.
