Bob Rock
There must be a topic like this one already, but i cant find it
I was wondering what are everyones opinons on Bob Rock. To be honest, id like OLP to return to Arnold Lanni or try another producer.

He doesn't write the songs. Or force them to record them in a certain way at gun-point. This change is not down to Rock but the band itself.

Bob Rock is one of, if not the best producers in rock music. He has taken some good bands and made them sound great. Love him or hate him, you cannot deny that he is one hell of a producer/engineer.

He is good at what he does, but look what he did to Metallica and Aerosmith. It will be hard to respect Metallica's music from now on because of their last 3 or 4 albums. We miss the Black album dammit.
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

What happened to Metallica? They evolved musically and became a better rock band in my opinion. Load is great, although I think Reload isn't as strong. Those are the only two studio albums Metallica have released since Metallica (The Black Album), which I think is way too overrated. Bob Rock is a talented producer, that's the bottom line. If he wasn't talented at what he does, then there wouldn't be so many artists/bands wanting to work with him. And on a side note, he produces stuff outside hard rock. Just go listen to Nina Gordon's Tonight And The Rest Of My Life, that's a very good album.

I just heard that Tonic have just finished recording their new album, with producer Bob Rock. The album was recorded at Rock's studio in Hawaii, the same place where Gravity was recorded. I am sure that this album will kick ass, because Tonic + Bob Rock = Great things. Tonic's last album was a little slick sounding, but good nonetheless.

i don't like how he told them to grow some balls, and bassically convinced them they needed to change there sound.

None of you actually know what he's done. You just want to hate him because he's not Arnold Lanni. Name a few reasons why you dislike the man? MADE them change their sound? That was OLP's choice and OLP's choice alone. They play the music. How it is put together in the studio is irrelevent.

Yeah, it does have to do with the band... I just don't like the way he handles his job... he takes it into his own hands too much. Yes, OLP does have the right to step in and say no, and they haven't, so we can't really say much... I don't know what I'm saying, but I disagree that Bob Rock has made bands better. I don't know much about other bands, but I liked old Aerosmith a LOT better.. I wish Our Lady Peace did without a producer and did an album on their own. That would show their true talent. But I'm not them and can't make those decisions for them.
