A push back of the album is very very smart in my opinion. I mean you have to look at what OLP is competing against. In may - june alone, they'd been competing against Dave Matthews Band, Oasis, Coldplay, and Weezer. It only makes since that OLP wouldn't want to go head to head with any of those bands. And perhaps they'd want to let those bands set the pace for the summer. If they can get people interested in rock music again, then when OLP release their album in late summer everyone could be more wiling to pick it up.

But that's just my opinion which means absolutly nothing

I can't wait until the Coldplay album. Also, I would expect late July lucky. It probably won't be out until August. Bastard Raine and his shifty eyes!

I know, we're treating the band like they're U2 or something. They're not going to switch around release dates to prevent leaking and playing the songs on Promosquad is not some ploy to mess with us. I doubt that other bands are afraid that an OLP release will mess with their airplay or album sales.

No, but I'm sure Sony's worried that huge bands will eat up all the album sales and OLP won't sell any. I think Flea's post was actually probably pretty dead on.

Don't come to the CM or the hub looking for a leaked copy of the album. Songs won't be hosted on here or the hub. If we get a single, I would consider hosting it, but not a full album. That's just not cool at all.

i wouldn't download the full album if it were on the hub anyway. it just spoils things so much. i already felt bad listening to the clips.

so be like me! you know you want to.

I'm hoping this summer is a semi-revival of altrock music, moving a little more away from the punk/emo stage. Rock is resilient, and it had a decent run back when Gravity came out in the summer of 2002. Since then, the more popular stuff has been punk/emo. But with this new stuff coming out, alt might be back stronger than it is now.

If OLP can release the album far enough away from the bigger selling bands (DMB, Oasis, Weezer, Coldplay) so that it's not grouped with them, but still make an impact with a single, they might actually benefit from the other album releases if people like what they hear and go to look for something similar yet different.

I think "Angels Losing Sleep" is a hit just from hearing two minutes of it. A nice run in June/July with that or another song might get OLP some attention in the US.

They'll strike gold in Canada either way.

I have to disagree with saying rock needs to make a comeback. The Canadian music scene is as deep as its ever been. I can think off of the top of my head of 15-20 bands that are canadian and doing phenomenally compared to three years ago when Wave was the only thing we had going for us.
I can't wait until the day schools are over-funded and the military is forced to hold bake sales to buy planes.

You'd be surprised how vastly different the popular music scene in Canada is than in the US. I'm glad to hear that, about those bands up there.

I don't listen to much radio or watch much MTV, but our popular music scene, for the most part, is punk/emo and bad rap.
