That's interesting, and scary. This better not happen to OLP. The thing is, the release date has already been pushed back to July...at least so we're told. I wish we'd finally have the release date announced.

A lot of albums are pushed up in their release date to avoid/foil leaking and losing album sales. With Fiona Apple they think that her album won't make much money and so they just won't put it out. In the eyes of Sony I'm sure they look at Gravity as a huge sucuess. If the album is schedueled for a July release and they get wind that 7 album tracks have been leaked already, in March, they may actually put a push on the album to get it out sooner.

Thats just what I was thinking about all this.

from what I've been told, most companies are only really making money off of their 10-15 best acts. I don't know who else is on Sony, but I'm guessing even if OLP were one of the top 15 they're probably near the bottom. There's no reason why what has happened to fiona can't happen to OLP. It just recently happened on a smaller scale with Greenwheel so anything is possible.

Also, I think we all need to settle down about these clips. Let one of the mods/hub people like Nikki and Matt find out why these songs leaked out, instead of creating 18 threads based entirely on speculation and conspiracy theory.

the date wasn't really pushed back because we never really got a definite solid release date. maybe they're just waiting for the summer because they feel that OLP will sell best then, or because they think that they'd fit the summer release line-up best.

That's what I'm thinking... I mean, Gravity was released in June, right? Maybe they're just going for consistency.

it's not a ploy... c'mon people

the album is going to have these songs and it will come out. there is no reason an olp album would not get released in canada. they are canada's biggest band. their record label wouldn't all of a sudden decide to not release it. let's stop trying to disect everything so much and just enjoy the teasers we have and wait for the album to come out!

I am under the impression that Sony did send the clips to promosquad.com. That is NOT OFFICIAL by any means, but only what I have deducted from conversations.

I think there is no reason to believe that all of these songs will be on the album, like 'em or not....and it will be released no later than july...it is done now, so the only thing holding it back is either the the record company, or the band waiting till they are ready to tour in support of it.

Ok here's my opinion. A lot of times a Band's record label will want clips of songs off there new album to pass around and impress the people in the office and to give them an idea of how the album is sounding and what to expect. These tracks seem to be taken from that. If you listen to the songs they're pieced together to be a "tease" its not like they're just cut off after a minute into it. They're even mixed together this way, if you listen to WTSOUF, you can hear Raine singing "And Whipe That Smile, And Whipe That Smile, I'm gonna whipe that smile off your face" This would not come in under a minute into the song, it would be near the end of the song as it is ending.

Oasis another band that is releasing a new album this year has also compiled a sampling cd of the same sorts, though it has not been leaked to the internet, there are reports of different people hearing them.

What is he speculating? He is 100% correct on the songs being pieced together. I still say that these were intentionally distributed to promosquad.
