Well I was just pissed because they haven't give us a specific release date, kinda throwing us for a loop, but no way did I say I demand something from them....I think all of you threw this whole post out of context....and yea Matt, before you shit down my throat why don't you recognize that I AM NEW on here, and as such I don't have the time nor interest to browse every topic covered in this message board/site, thanks alot... I'd ask one of you if the topic was covered but you just spam every post i put up, so whatever.

I didn't come on this message board to start fights with anyone, I wanted to maintain good conversation on here, maybe throw in a few laughs here and there, not to get my words twisted around and shat on for nothing.

With 110 posts he just now looks around?

Queens Of The Stone Age-Someone's In The Wolf

Once you're lost in twillights's blue
You don't find your way, the way finds you...

Tempt the fates, beware the smile
It hides all the teeth, my dear,
What's behind them...

So glad you could stay
Forever

He steps between the trees, a crooked man
There's blood on the blade
Don't take his hand

You warm by the firelight, in twilight's blue
Shadows creep & dance the walls
He's creeping too..

So glad you could stay
Forever

OLP gains money when you take their hard work, so everyone wins. Thus, we're equal with them. Even Steven.

Not entirely, like a lot of people I had Gravity downloaded a month before it came out. Then I went out and bought two copies the first day it was released. I had Spiritual Machines downloaded months before it came out, and bought it months before it went on-sale (in America at least).

Also it's a bit naive to think that OLP makes music for us. OLP is a business, they make cd's to make their record label money, they do concerts so that they can make money (as bands pretty much make their living from touring, not from cd sales), and they sell merchandise not for us to wear and to have, but to make a profit off of it. I mean it sounds harsh, but it's a reality. Now am I saying that we're nothing more to OLP but consumers, NO I'm sure the members of the band think of us as war MORE than that. But you do have to realize that they're in it to make a living.

And by saying I think OLP owes me something, you guys are taking this way too far. what I'm saying is I think OLP owes it too us to come out and say this "insert date here" is when we're going to release our album. I'm sick of hearing that it's going to be released in the spring (I'm pretty sure members of the band have said that) and then having another announcement saying that it's going to be summer.

I mean it's not so much that it's taking so long to make the album, I have no problem with that, I realize there is a process involved with making one. But to not hear anything for while, and then to find out that it's going to be even longer of a wait it can get a bit frustrating as a fan.

Have OLP been pretty good to us? Yeah they have, they've put out snippets of demos, provided us with two Christmas greetings, a live album and DVD, posted on message boards. So they definitely haven't alienated us, but I also don't feel as they've been as straight foreword with us as they could have been.

I think OLP were just throwing around dates at us to shut us up. They shouldn't do that but I can kinda see how that would happen. Fans start to wonder, OLP *think* they're about to be done only to change their minds at the last possible second and so the album release date gets pushed back even more.

It'd be great if the new album came out this month but really, it doesn't matter. Just as long as the new stuff rocks. And I'm not too picky, either so I'll probably enjoy it just like everything else OLP has put out.
And if I don't make it known that
I've loved you all along
Just like sunny days that
We ignore because
We're all dumb and jaded
And I hope to God I figure out
What's wrong

that is FAR more important than anything. think about this for a second theyre new parents. they have something far more important than you or me or anything else. as everyone else has pointed out, theyve done a lot for us fans and as such, they dont "owe us" nor are they obligated to do anything for us. if you ask me, theyve earned and deserve the break theyre on.
it wasnt too long ago (well i lie, it was in 2002) that they flew in from the European tour, stayed in TO for like 5 or so hours, got on a bus and drove down to Dayton, Ohio (roughly an 8 or so hour drive) to do a show. they only opened that night so they werent on for that long which, for raine's sake was really good cuz when my friends and i talked to him he was exhausted. sure they want to make money but at the same time they want to make good music and do something that makes them happy. from talking to the guys and other bands thats far more important then money. if theyre enjoying what theyre doing and are happy with what theyre doing then thats all that matters. right now spending time with their families is obviously something that makes them happy and as such let em be happy and be patient.

I don't know if you're just not paying attention or WHAT, but they've DONE exactly what you're complaining they haven't done. Yes, the date has changed, but that's simply because it's taken longer than the band expected to get this album finished. Every few months, they've given us updates on when it should be out... usually Jeremy's the one to deliver this information on the radio, or hey, even here on our very own CM.

You're whining about them telling us incorrect info? Would you rather just not hear anything at all? Obviously not, because you're complaining about that, too.

Make up your mind. You can't have both.

Personally, I'm very happy with how they've kept in touch with us. With most of my favorite bands, I don't hear anything for years, then suddenly there's a new album coming out. I'd much rather hear little things here and there, regardless of how accurate the information is that they give. It makes me happy just that they're trying to inform us. But that's just me.

Why is it that just because I have a different view from everyone else that I have a stick up my ass? Am I not allowd to have an opinion from a different point of view?

Here's the thing, yes OLP have families yes they should be allowed to take time off with them, and yes they work hard. However, when I was born my parents didn't take significant amount of time off to spend time with me, they couldn't, they still had bills to pay, so they took of like a week from work and then went back. People have families, not many professions allow there employees to take significant amounts of time off work to spend with their new born son (please keep this in perspective, I know employeers are reasonably generous to new families, I"m just saying that they wont give an employee months off to have a child, unless it's the mother).

Working Hard: Yeah I'm sure OLP work hard but to compare them to a lot of people they have it pretty good. Sitting on a plane and bus for hours is nothing compared to picking up garbage in the middle of winter ,5 days a week, when the temperature if below freezing and wind gusts are over 20mph. And I'm pretty sure most garbage man aren't given company perks of going to Maui for a few weeks to work. Yes, OLP work hard, yes the spend months away from there familes touring, but they have it pretty good compared to most professions.

What I'm saying is that I would rather have them tell us the correct information.

Just think if you were a boss someplace, and you asked your employee "When are you going to have your TPS reports done" and they said March, or spring. And then you heard nothing from them until spring and you went to their desk in march and asked them if the TPS reports were done, and they said, well it's probably going to be summer, but I'll have the first couple of files to you by the end of spring. As an employeer you'd feel mislead, and maybe even a little frustrated with them. As a fan of OLP I feel a bit mislead, and a bit frustarted with them.

OLP's pretty good with updating and informing us. I hear pretty much nothing from all my other favourite bands... but they're all dead.

Except that A) We're not OLP's employers, and thus nothing is due to us, and B) OLP's employers probably have a better idea of what's going on at this point than OLP.

And as an employer, would you prefer your employee turn in an on time but piece of shit TPS report, or a late but excellent document?

Well, anyway, I'm sticking by my statement that we're equal to OLP. You may have bought their album twice, but that's not their fault. It's not their fault you downloaded it early, either, except that perhaps they should get more trustworthy execs.

wow this is kind of pathetic. Some of you need to stop clicking the refrsh button over at Rich and Shelley's site hoping the news section will be updated.

I don't think there's much else I can add to this since Nikki, Matt and Sand did excellent jobs of putting some of you in your places.

The fact is that instead of waiting impatiently for a new album to be announced, why not go listen to the thousands of hours of music available to you at the moment? Since Gravity came out I have listened to more music than I ever had in my entire life. I thank OLP for putting out a shitty record so I could expand my tastes and hear how music should be made. Do you honestly feel that the 10 or 11 songs that will be on this next album (if it ever gets released, and but I'll touch on that in a second) will be the most mind-blowing and significant ever produced by mankind? There is so much more and better music out there to be worried about when a past-their-prime is going to release another so-so album.

And here's the thing, what if, seeing as how they all have lives of their own they decided to part ways before the album is released? I would absolutely love to see what some of you would say about that. The funny thing is that OLP doesn't have to release an album for you. They can be a band without you, I or anyone. There are millions of bands in this world and none of them owe anyone but themselves anything.

Furthermore, seeing as how I'm positive the band is financially secure and capable of paying their bills, they have every right to take off as much time as they want. Just because the average person might have trouble paying bills doesn't mean others are as unfortunate (not to mention whoever it was that said their parents went back to work after a week is probably highly misinformed...) Personally I would hope that Raine and Chantal, or Duncan and his wife would put their family before any of us STRANGERS. it's only the right thing to do.
I can't wait until the day schools are over-funded and the military is forced to hold bake sales to buy planes.

what i think is that I'd rather have OLP put out a good album even if it comes out next year than put out a shitty album because they are hurried. NOT that they haven't been taking a lot of time, but in the past they've done things really quickly. 5 studio albums and a live album + dvd in 10 years. Sure I want the new OLP now, thatd be great, but I'd rather listen to other music in the meantime instead of complaining like crazy.
