one more try

Post by starseed_10 »

i honestly didnt make that thread to bash gravity.
I havent heard any good conversation about the band in a loooooong time,
so i want to see what everyone thinks of the albums now.

please don't lock this unless it actually does get too ugly.

Haha, but everyone knows what the end result will be. It will end up with the board screaming of how they hate Bob Rock, how they wish Mike was still in the band. There will be debate over whether Mike or Steve is better. There will be massive upheavals about the dumbing down of lyrics in Gravity, speculation as to what songs will be on the album supposedly named Vampires, and speculation as to how much it will suck/rock. Furthermore, everyone will agree that Mike Eisenstein is a nice guy. But If you want to go ahead and get the violence started yet again, be my guest. The first second it turns ugly, I lock the thread.

aaaanyway, i think SM is the most complete album throughout, but happiness has too many memories for me to not pick it.

I said Happiness... I view SM as the beginning of OLP's slide. There were a few songs on there that could have fit in on Gravity in my opinion, but also a few songs that were fantastic such as In Repair and The Wonderful Future.

I just think Happiness has everything OLP is wrapped into one album. Wailling vocals, hard guitars, off-kilter drumming and amazingly thought provoking lyrics.
I can't wait until the day schools are over-funded and the military is forced to hold bake sales to buy planes.

Goodbye you liar,
Well you sipped from the cup but you don't own up to anything
Then you think you will inspire
Take apart your head
(and I wish I could inspire)
Take apart your demons, then you add it to the list.

I can never decide between Happiness and SM. They're both albums I would listen to forever.
I just wanna get out,
Stuck inside of this.
Waiting for something else,

It's pretty much a toss-up between SM and Happiness for me. To me, those albums were pretty much perfect. Plus, they both came out at a pretty tough time in one's life, adolescence. Those albums helped me through a lot in my life.

Open your eyes to nights and days, you close them up and float away
and somehow inbetween you've got to master lying to yourself
you back the cause, get out of school, you get a job, the job gets you
and somehow every day you end up serving somebody else
now if that ain't panic that you're feeling, then you damn well better start
you can drive it into that head of yours with the hammer in your heart.

And it's alriiiiiiiight now, take the world and make it yours again.

Spiritual Machines.

It's the first OLP album I got, and the one that made me love them. :D

i've gotta go with sm, although right now naveed is getting the heaviest rotation in my cd player of the olp cds. hmm. it mostly depends on my mood which one i believe is best. each of the albums has its merits.

I'm in the "can't choose one cos they're all so different" boat.

But I think I'll vote for Clumsy simply because it's the album that made me find OLP. :D

I see a trend.

Fans getting more and more into OLP albums as time goes by, not because each album is better than the last, but because each album is so good that it adds to the awesomeness of their works as a whole.

You can see for yourself what happened later on.
