Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy
Since it doesn't have an official thread yet - here 'tis!

I thought of something the other day... How fucking awesome would it be if in the first scene, when Arthur is waking up/getting up, if Coldplay's "Don't Panic" was playing in the background? Maybe his alarm clock radio can go off playing it. It's so perfect and subliminal. This light and airy song about how we live in a beautiful world, right before the world is destroyed. And it's called DON'T PANIC!
I should write these fucking movies. Or just get paid $10/hr - no, make that $15/hr - for every hour I'm alive to call people with my random epiphanies.
Also, new poster and production shot. (imdb doesn't allow image linking, so here's the damned urls)
The New Poster
Zaphon, Trillian, Marvin and Ford
Question: Where the fuck is Zaphod's other head and why are they trying to ruin the movie?
I dearly hope that this is like a practice scene and they just haven't digitally edited in a second head.

Oh dear god. After some quick research, there's apparently a rumour going around that in the movie, Zaphod's second head is hidden inside his nose.
What. The. Fuck.
I would have settled for a shitty looking head like in the original TV series.
Question the second: How does one hide one's second head within a birdcage in order to blend in with humans if one's second head is inside one's nose?

Eh. I actually don't mind it this way. The series was 100% faithful, but completely intolerable. I get the impression they're really trying to make a good film here.
A movie will never be the book, I want it to be good before it's accurate.

Just because I am sexy, naked, a bassist, and sporting a top hat doesn't make me Duncan Coutts!

You're the guy who was bitching about the LotR movies being crap!
Those films were brilliant films. They took many liberties with the material, but they were brilliant. If you think they're bad interpretations, whatever. If you think they're bad films, you're dumb!
This can be a brilliant film. I'd rather have a brilliant film that tells the story than a film that hamstrings itself by trying to cram too many details into a different medium.

But that's beside the point. This would be like making LotR with full-sized hobbits, a beardless Gandalf, axeless dwarves or perhaps a Gollum indifferent to the ring.
Zaphod's second head is a MAJOR defining characteristic. Things left out of or changed in LotR were, overall, fairly minimal details. Didn't really change the characters or story line to any large degree. Zaphod with one head really isn't Zaphod.

Find a spot in the book where Zaphod's second head was integral to the plot or any really good humour.
You can't, don't try, I've read the books a dozen times over.
The fact that he had two heads rarely even entered into the writing. It's a shame, sure. Does it ruin the movie? NO!
Edit: "MAJOR defining characteristic?" Give me a break Rob! You need to relax.

Okay. Two heads is a major thing. The whole point of him having two heads was to define him physically from a regular human.
The fact of the matter is that leaving out the second head was an act of pure laziness. There's no reason with the technology available today that they couldn't have made a convincing second head. The fact that they have left out such a detail doesn't in itself ruin the movie, but it leaves me rather worried that they're going to leave out other important aspects of the book.
