a question for boys

For some reason, your species is completely unintelligible to me (Cf. Bethany's sig). Could I maybe have some male opinion on this situation?

OK so. It's like 1 am and my guy friend down the hall messages me all of a sudden and tells me he just downloaded Chicken Run.
I say oh, that's a good movie. After a pause he says "you can come watch if you're bored". Naturally, I agreed.
I went to his room in pj's wrapped in a blanket and he suggested I go back and get my pillow, so I did.

He started the movie on his laptop, turned off the lights, shut the door, changed into his pyjamas (in front of me), and lay in his bed next to me.
He also offered to share the blanket. Narrow bed, body contact, funny movie, light chatter.
When the movie finished he said he was going to sleep, rolled over on me playfully with the pretext of getting me to go, and said goodnight a few times.

During all of that we were touching lightly, but any movement on my part to touch more closely was pretty much ignored and then sort of withdrawn from.
So my question is, what is this guy's deal? Is he gay? Shy? Confused? Oblivious? Mah??

This guy's clearly shy. Clearly respects boundaries and is afraid to cross them without some pushing. And there ain't nothing wrong with that. So next time, instead of suggesting it subtlely, try talking to him straight out... :nod:

and then there wont be much sleeping that night if you get my drift...

not every guy is gay if they don't start making moves right away.
especially if the guy doesn't have a lot of experience....

so if that's the case then i almost guarantee you he's shy or just doesn't know how you want him to act.
He obviously likes you if he asked you to watch a cheesy movie with him at 1am - in the same blanket and everything no less.
Hell, it probably took a lot of guts for him to go that far.

so keep dropping hints if that's what you want, but give him some time. i'd say 94% chance he likes you, or is at least interested.

He's making a first move and hinting, but doesn't want to take things too fast and scare you off. (Many men suck at reading signals) Also this of course shows shyness as everyone has said. But the fact that he hinted at it, (quite a blatantly obvious hint I might add) but he did it politely at least.

What you need to do is show up for the next movie, let's say... maybe some No Holds Barred (It's an 80's Hulk Hogan movie) hmm... okay so maybe that's not a good one, but a movie you'd both want to watch, but show up in a bathrobe with nothing under it. You don't even have to open the robe, but he'll be wondering (he's a guy and if even if he's gay he'll still wonder if you have anything on underneath) and it's a great way to hint back to make sure the signals you were receiving from him are what they really seem to be. It's a safe way to make things interesting and see what develops in the situation. It's like teasing, but not in a mean way. If you want to even be slightly more forward about it, invite him to your room instead of going to his room. It will also prevent someone in the halls from trying to open your robe while you're walking there.

Personally I'd agree with Brett in that he's just shy. I'd lso say that maybe he wanted to touch, but was worried about what you would think/do. I know that if I was in that position, I would have worried about making the wrong move and getting slapped or something. Maybe be less subtle about your touches if you want to touch. It might give him the right ideas.
