Oh.....my......God.

Queens Of The Stone Age-Someone's In The Wolf

Once you're lost in twillights's blue
You don't find your way, the way finds you...

Tempt the fates, beware the smile
It hides all the teeth, my dear,
What's behind them...

So glad you could stay
Forever

He steps between the trees, a crooked man
There's blood on the blade
Don't take his hand

You warm by the firelight, in twilight's blue
Shadows creep & dance the walls
He's creeping too..

So glad you could stay
Forever

Compare these two pictures of the same area.

Notice the houses, streets, villages in the first.

Then check out the second one.

The Canadian Government has announced they are boosting aid to 80 million dollars. This is about $2.66 per citizen. Furthermore, the Canadian Red Cross is reporting that Canadians have donated 34 million dollars, which is more than a dollar per person.
I can't wait until the day schools are over-funded and the military is forced to hold bake sales to buy planes.

 My mum donated 100 dollars to Red Cross.

Also, Canada is sending an RCMP Forensics team, and a relief/medical encampment team, once they find a spot to put it.

It's my dad's birthday tomorrow, and the only thing he's asking for is money, which he will donate.

I've heard stories about small children donating all their Christmas money. And people donating £2000 (almost $4000 US) that they had saved to go on holiday.

It's amazing how something like this affects people, but it needs to happen more the rest of the time. As well as donating now those who can should think about setting up regular donations to Oxfam or the Red Cross or whoever so they can help all the other people in the world who are affected by lesser scale disasters than this.
Open your eyes to nights and days, you close them up and float away
and somehow inbetween you've got to master lying to yourself
you back the cause, get out of school, you get a job, the job gets you
and somehow every day you end up serving somebody else
now if that ain't panic that you're feeling, then you damn well better start
you can drive it into that head of yours with the hammer in your heart.

And it's alriiiiiiiight now, take the world and make it yours again.

 It's nice to know that people do still have hearts, though. Too bad it takes something of this scale for it to show.

I was just on the UK Oxfam website looking for something when I found this page which is a list of other things you can do to help as well as making a donation (or instead of if you can't afford to make a donation now). I'm not sure how much is relevant to those of you in other countries but it's worth a read:

The Canadian government has announced that it will match Canadian public donations to the current crisis, dollar for dollar. This match will apply to all donations made before January 11, 2005 and your donation made in that time can continue to be claimed on your 2004 tax return.

even more incentive for those that are able to give to give more.

My school has started a massive fundraiser for the disaster. I've never seen them go all out like this. They've asked the students and staff to donate a minimum of $5, they've never asked the students to donate a specific.
Paul Martin also rented two massive Russian aircrafts to help DART (Disaster Assisstance Relief Team), a few members of the team are from Mississauga.

So very not cool.

Some people broke into the local red cross last night, assuming there would be more money to steal from the tsunami relief fund. Fortunately, deposits are made on regular bases so no money was taken, but a van was stolen and there was significant damage done to the offices.

What's wrong with these people?

Oh My God, that's horrible. It's not as surprising as it should be though, I've had the displeasure of meeting some people who would think nothing of that

is really hard for any of us to really get a grip on the reality of
what these people are going through...we have been drawn to do

A date has become available at the PIC this weekend JAN 8th..... it is
really short notice you might say ...and well so was the
Tsunami...this is a desperate time for these people....and it's rare
to have an opening at all at a venue on such short notice...
So over this weekend, we have executed a plan to get the best talent
we can in this time ..We have organized a major press rally and are
working with people from the Red Cross and World Vision to organize
donations and relief effort information... they will all be present to
help us organize a legitimate opportunity for people to give and help
out !!

We already have a few really serious sponsorships and prizes valued at
thousands of dollars .... and we will have created a major buzz and
effort before the week is over....please if your available and you
Rock us on a regular basis...help us out to make a really cool thing
even better ....we are taking submissions now ...so please contact us
ASAP...to confirm a spot....Bands, Singer Songwriters...Rap stars you

Holy Fuck. No, its not holy actually.

Fuck.

I actually want to cry. It is very unfair that so many innocent people were killed in Asia, and "christians" like that are allowed to live.
