Tsunami Death Toll Ever Rising.

Canada's now giving 40 million dollars in aid.

While, Ontario gives 5 million dollars

These totals are government totals and not what was donated straight from the pockets of individuals. Last tally in Canada had 7.2 million dollars donated by individuals. Hopefully this is the case from the public around the world (especially in the west), although there are still a few countries who need to boost their governmental output in my opinion.

As of this morning the UK government had donated £15 million and the public had donated £20 million. Over £5 million was donated by members of the public last night alone.

that is what is really sad about this is that these people had no warning. they weren't in waR torn nations.. They were just going about their business like any other normal day..

This makes the 4 hurricanes that hit this summer look like nothing... This is almost a horror of biblical events. I still can't beleive in this day and age that something this horrorable can happen...We can send people to the moon, but can't save lives...

And speakiong of war. You still hear how a bomb went off her, or one went off there. Makes you think what the hell is wrong with society...?

true true, but there are alot of beautiful things going on also. Too bad the bad is overshadowing it..

The fact that the littel sweedish boy was reunited with his dad is a good thing. The fact that the world is banning together to help the victims is a good thing.. The fact that we are all still alive to make it a better place for people is a good thing..

Cheer up Nikki.. We have to think postive or else we will be depressed all the time..

There always is a silverlining somewhere.. ALthough in this situation I don't know. But maybe just maybe we will finally take care of the nations that really need it and not be petty with debts they owe to us...

Wal-Mart stores will be collecting money soon, probably by the weekend. I don't know the details yet, but I saw a blurb about it on our intranet this evening.

What I find interesting is that there have been almost no reports of injured animals.
Wildlife seemed to flee the entire area before anything hit, and there are huge animal reserves that live in the area hit.
I wonder why we never knew anything.

I'm thinking that has more to do with the fact that the human deaths are overshadowing the animal deaths.

Though, a lot of them might've fled, animals have sixth senses about these things.

That's really interesting. Makes you wonder what happened in our evolution to destroy that sixth sense that it seems every other living creature has.

So... the US is donating $35 mil... that's so pathetic I can't even begin to express my disappointment.

We better add more to that number. A lot more.

Yeah, I think the people's donations from citizens and companies in the US is somewhere around $100 million... I went back to Yahoo News to check my facts, but I can't find the article anymore. I think that's what it was at, anyway. Regardless, the numbers much larger than what the US as a country has given.

The US is raising its amount to 350 million, but it is likely because of pressure from other nations, groups and the media. There is no reason why any nation shouldn't be contributing between 1 or 2 dollars per citizen.
