The Matthew Good Appreciation Thread
the workproject is basically moved to Jackpillowhead now... It started yesterday. If you go to links, then Jack pillow head you'll see the new "workproject" with matt posting as jack pillowhead.
I can't wait until the day schools are over-funded and the military is forced to hold bake sales to buy planes.

It was going to be a place where any art related stuff would be posted by him, or some other contributors, whether it was poetry/prose, lyrics, video, and music. Matt wanted his homepage to be less about the music and more about him (which is understandable, since it probably would get annoying to constantly have people expecting him to update a "music" related site) so he decided he would develop theworkproject site as a site for his music, and basically a site he could fool around with in regards to layout and whatnot since he was changing the layout of his official site very often, and nearly lost a lot of his entries doing so.
So theworkproject is basically now Jack Pillowhead. I'm not sure why he's changed it. He doesn't give reasons for these things.
The thing about Matt is that he really doesn't like being only associated with his music. It's a hard thing to do when you're one of a country's leading musicians, but it's understandable considering he's never had ambition to "be popular."
My girlfriend had the luxury of chatting with him after a show back in September. It was just a one on one chat for about 15 mins and they didn't even talk about music. I think in a way Matt wishes it was more like that. He performs for a couple hours in front of people and then afterwards he's just your average guy, not some "rock and roll" star that only has music on the brain.
It's awesome that you're getting into matt, Rob. I used to hate him back in the Beautiful midnight days, mostly because of the supposed OLP/MGB feud, plus I don't think i was mature enough to listen to him. Then once avalanche came out I thought "ok, I'm a fan of Matt good the artist, not the band."But after hearing Avalanche I though, you know, let's check out MGB...Now I'm hooked and can honestly say Matt's become my favourite artist. It's like there's this honest connection. You don't feel like he's bigger than life just because he's on the radio, which is definitely the feeling I get about OLP.
wow that was kinda long haha oh well.

The work project is going to be taken down soon so if there's anything there you'd like to keep then go and save it now! I've got all the end of the year album reviews saved to read at my leisure and hopefully make some great purchases.
As far as the jackpillowhead thing. Matt orginally started it out as a semi-private creative blog but that probably only lasted a week or two before he decided to add a link to it on mg.org and make it public. I found it was up and running again last night just by looking at Dan or Paul's blogger profile so he's not keeping it too well hidden. I figure it's only a matter of time before he's talking about it on his main site again!

Open your eyes to nights and days, you close them up and float away
and somehow inbetween you've got to master lying to yourself
you back the cause, get out of school, you get a job, the job gets you
and somehow every day you end up serving somebody else
now if that ain't panic that you're feeling, then you damn well better start
you can drive it into that head of yours with the hammer in your heart.
And it's alriiiiiiiight now, take the world and make it yours again.

...and this is me hanging on / i'd burn our initials in the sun if it would shine / anxiety chokes me like razor wire / if hate's in your heart man, you'll take what you're given / wake up / i'm not the only one / it's never goodbye / go ahead and play dead / if everyone's a casualty, then take your time, there ain't no trouble / these wounds they will not heal / ambition can be a tricky thing / what the hell do i know about rape anyway? / this is not what i hoped for / ain't it so weird how it makes you a weapon / who will be there to tell me how stupid i am? / those living for death will die by their own hand / and it's me that I am spying on / pick up the pieces and live with the stars / hurry up and wait / things have never been so swell / they're always the ones who slowly drift / be great / ...and this is my world.

New news:
That kind of sucks. I would assume that everyone could still read it, but I'd like to be able to comment when I want. Then again, this may be something I'd actually pay for, depending on the fee...

Technical Assistance Required
If anyone out there would be able to offer information regarding how to set up a membership platform for this blog, I would be interested. Ultimately, I would like those who wish to participate to pay a small annual fee to become members of the site. The revenue would go towards keeping the site up and running, with the excess being donated to charity. If anyone out there has any knowledge or information about such a function, please feel free to e-mail me.
