I accidently burned a cd at fastest speed for my friend and the cd could only handle 8x heh, i ruined his cd. But anyway yeah you should always burn 8x at most.

I've never had problem with burning my cd's. My program detects the max speed the cd can handle and it goes with that and I've never had a cd ruined.

Ok, so i need some help from you all.

I am at home for winter break so i am using my parents' computer. whenever i open a webpage, this stupid little taskbar comes up at the bottom. i have run spybot and adaware to try and get rid of the viruses on the computer and i also removed some programs that were obviously harmful. has anyone had problems with this darn thing and does anyone know how i can get rid of it?

It's a pesky little searchbar, not neccessarily spyware. Go to your add/remove programs and look for it's name (you can find the name by right clicking it) then remove it. If that fails, go to www.webroot.com and download the free trial and that should get rid of it.

i have no idea what the name of it is though. :freak:

i went through the process last night of adding and removing programs, but there is no name that gives it away. :neutral:

If you right click it, then you should have a list of things pop up. Look for one with a checkmark beside it and that will be the name of it, if you are unsure, click what you think it is, if it goes away that it. If not try again. Also if by clicking on the toolbar itself doesn't work, click by the address bar and try that. Then when you find the name look for it in add/remove programs.

Go into EAC > drive options and switch the extraction method to "secure mode with following drive features"

then press the detect read features button, wait until it does its thing press apply (you have to press apply or it won't be set to use the correct features), then okay, then okay again.

If you want to encode it to an mp3, you'll have to install an mp3 codec, go into EAC > compression options, click the "external compression" tab, and set it up in there. Or you can just rip it as a wav and use the program you would regularly use for converting wav to mp3 to encode it.

Sometimes it takes a bit of work to get it started the first time, but EAC really works like a charm.

i know what you mean- it should be showing up, but it isn't.

Did your parents install it? Or is it a mystery to everyone?

Also, do you have the latest spybot definitions?

You could try browsing through your program files directory for suspicious folders, or maybe even pressing alt+ctrl+delete and looking under the processes tab for anything unusual.

You also might find something if you go to tools > internet options > programs > manage add-ons in Internet Explorer. *shrugs*

It was a mystery program to everyone- my mom isn't very good with computers; she most likely downloaded it accidentaly.

my mom seriously has an inbox of over 500 emails but they are purely junk mail and she doesn't delete them. :wtf:
