Paypal

Just how secure is it anyways? I'm signing up for it, but I'm a little weary about giving my Visa number, and my bank account (to verify my Paypal account).

Because it's not secure, or because you can't figure out the setup?

ummm, I believe its secure but I say its the devil because I've had issues when I tried to activate my account. I finally got it activated about 10 days ago. My main trouble was confirming my bank account.

Confirming the bank account should be easy once they deposit the money, shouldn't it?

I'm just hoping for some bank error in which they accidentally deposit millions into my account.

hehe. I had issues when I first attempted to confrim my account...of course I was the cause of the problems though.

Its easy as poopin, all you do is enter the amounts that paypal deposited into your account. Then voila! Ye be confrimed. The you can verify your account by adding a credit card. I don't have a credit card so I can't get my account verified.

It's really hard to deal with. I've mentioned on the board a few times, how I added my VISA, before Canadians were allowed to use their bank accounts, and no matter what, my Visa would never work. I argued and asked for answers from paypal for months and all they gave me was "TRY ANOTHER CREDIT CARD" wel... I don't have one. Also, once I added my bank account, it worked fine, it told me my Visa was now my backup funding, however, when I didn't have enough cash in my bank account to cover my purchase, it didn't take from my VISA (of course!), Paypal paid for it, gave me a negative paypal balance and sent me tons of emails about paying it in 90 days or there will be legal action.

Paypal, however IS secure. It's a part of eBay. They're the same company, or owned by eBay or whatever, but it's completely legit. I haven't heard of anyone having their visa charged up or number stolen or anything bad happening for signing up. (No identity theft is what I was getting at). It makes buying a lot easier. The best thing is, you won't ever have to give your credit card # out to sellers on eBay. Only paypal will have it and it will be kept completely confidential.

Also, if your account says UNVERIFIED. It's because you're Canadian. I went through the steps of verification, but countries outside the USA will sometimes still be Unverified. I read about that in their terms and conditions and e-mailed and phoned them about it. Some accounts might say VERIFIED for Canadians, others won't work or something.

I think your credit card would be your back up funding.

If you enter both your bank account and your Credit card, I believe you have the choice to use one or the other as your primary funding source. I haven't changed mine, but when you log in to your paypal account, your personal page will tell you which your backup and primary funding sources are.

Paypal is greeeeeeeeat
Open your eyes to nights and days, you close them up and float away
and somehow inbetween you've got to master lying to yourself
you back the cause, get out of school, you get a job, the job gets you
and somehow every day you end up serving somebody else
now if that ain't panic that you're feeling, then you damn well better start
you can drive it into that head of yours with the hammer in your heart.

And it's alriiiiiiiight now, take the world and make it yours again.
