Haha, I made all that up on the spot. I have no idea who Ashley whoever actually is... I bet J-Neli could tell it was all BS considering he seems to play the game.
I could tell it was BS but it was some pretty good BS. Cole is worth quite a bit so you'd get more than a few youngsters for him, otherwise it was an excellent try!

Oh come on. All you have to do is put "Football" in the title of the game and brits will play it. They have riots over the sport after almost every game for crying out loud. (and sometimes during). What really surprises me is that there is more than one version of this game. How could it get any different from year to year?
More depth gets added every year. The amount of management you can do gets better every year. The transfer system and match engines get improved upon every year. It really is an evolution. There's something like 250,000 players in the database, with over 40 countries and 250 leagues.
I'm not a gaming person at all. I rarely play anything. The only game that has ever got me hooked was this one. It's so much more realistic than any sports game out there. They even came out with a hockey version, and it's extremely realistic as well, but is a work in progress.
This game appeals to people who love their footie, and have always wanted to be involved in football but have never had the chance. There's an infinite amount of difficulty in the game (based on what team you pick) so basically you can play for as long as you want, which isn't the case with most sports games where you can master it on the highest level in a few weeks.
Maybe you have to be a football fan to understand it. It's a tough concept since a game like this has never been released before in North America.

stats are all built in, but there is an editor and people do alter player attributes and release roster packs if there are some problems with players being over/underrated.
Basically you start with a team at the beginning of this season and can play an infinite amount of seasons. Every year they come out with a new version much like the FIFA or any EA series which updates players, and also builds on the previous game.
Try out the demo online. It lets you play for 6 months and is a pretty good indicator of how the game plays.

I'm just giving you a hard time J-Neli. I have seen games like it before in the US but I don't think they tend to do well. I've played some actually, but they tend to get boring over time.

Beckham is far more overrated. Rooney's been playing in the premier for 4 years now and he's only 19, not too mention he scores tons of goals as you could see in Euro 2004 and so far this season in the premiership.

He's MAJORLY overrated. It's a popularity contest, thats why everyone made a big deal about it. There are so many professional soccer players out there and TONS of better players too that aren't in the spotlight because their countries don't do publicity like that etc...
