"Deadly" - The Karla Homolka/Paul Bernardo story.

Serious discussion area.

Honestly, no one is going to kill her. A lot of people would love to be able to, especially in St Catharines, but alas laws kinda get in the way.

All I know is that this brings back a lot of bad memories. It was without a doubt the scariest time in my life. It wasn't just that I lived near him. I lived literally 30 seconds from him. The girls were taken just up the road a block or two from my house. I don't remember a whole lot from when I was 6 but I remember just how scary this was. And the idea that its now going to be made into a movie makes me kinda sick. I know from people in St Catharines that I've talked to feel the same way.

It is sick that it's being made into a movie.

Queens Of The Stone Age-Someone's In The Wolf

Once you're lost in twillights's blue
You don't find your way, the way finds you...

Tempt the fates, beware the smile
It hides all the teeth, my dear,
What's behind them...

So glad you could stay
Forever

He steps between the trees, a crooked man
There's blood on the blade
Don't take his hand

You warm by the firelight, in twilight's blue
Shadows creep & dance the walls
He's creeping too..

So glad you could stay
Forever

Don't be so selfish. You're forgetting about the greedy cash whores of Hollywood and the consumer whores of the great North American market!

Some true stories should be told. Movies like "Ray" and "Rudy" and "Man on the moon" are prime examples of movies discussing legacy and life. The exploitation of a family's loss is extremely wrong.

It's one thing to tell a true story in a movie.

It's another to make a slasher horror flick based on the true stories that caused very real terror and heartache in real people in real life.

Such as the texas chainsaw massacre, that shouldn't have been made into a movie either.

Sometimes it can be okay to base a movie on something in real life. Example, Psycho, the Silence of the Lambs, and a few others were based loosely on one man.

The key word is loosely.

Getting inspiration from real events to create a fictional horror is okay in my book. Then the movie (or books, in Hannibal's case) is based on the writer's own merrit.

This, however, is simple exploitation.

i dunno .. i live 10 minutes from the area where the one girl was found and i used to drive by there everyday on my way into work. i agree it isn't right, but i was old enough at the time that i remember reading the newspapers about it and i'll probably watch the movie out of curiosity.

I won't. My friend lives in the house on Lake Gibson, and I have trouble going there just cause thats where she was found. I don't think I'b be able to sit through the film.

The memory that I have of my first encounter with this was learning on a field trip to the prison museum here in Kingston that Paul was being held in the penn here. Didn't really know much about him at that point (would have been too young to understand anyways). Learned about it later.

I can definately see why you wouldn't want to watch the movie. You're way to close to what happened.

Personally, I'm not going to watch it either. Maybe if it was just some random horror flick. But this is pure exploitation with absolutely no thought or respect towards the victims and their loved ones.

I remember clearly the first time I saw the trailer for that movie in a theatre and I was so sickened by the idea that I promised myself I would never, ever see it.

Ditto with this one... for god's sake, one of the girls was found on my favourite hiking trail a 5 minute drive from my house.

I don't know how people can be so heartless to make movies out of these types of things. I really don't.

So I guess the movie won't be shown in Canada.

http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/s ... TVNewsAt11

In addition, he says Deadly, which is now being edited, won't make it to Canada.

"We have no distributor in Canada, and honestly we have mixed feelings," he said. "I specifically reserved the right not to distribute in Canada. That's where it stands right now. There's still a lot of steps ahead of us."

Thank God. My city would be seriously not impressed with this. I went to high school with Leslie Mahaffey's younger brother
