What songs do you hope make the album??

Post by Brooklin Matt »

Of the new stuff:

Don't Ask Why, Wipe that Smile Off Your Face, No Warning

I figure its good to see what people think of the new stuff just in case OLP ever wonders...

My Thoughts on all the new tunes:

Not Afraid - amazing....better be on the album
Wipe.... - another great one
Walking in Circles - Not bad but it sounds too much like Danger Zone
Don't Ask Why - amazing from what we have heard....better be on #6
No Warning - musically its pretty good but it lacks good lyrics although im sure if it was to make the album they would be changed like not afraid was
Talk is Cheap - not bad...lyrics need work...i like it but it likely wont make the album
Vampires - i love this one too...likely gonna make the album because of it being rumoured as a possible title

Oh...and as a side note....i heard the good version of Ordinary that is on the hub from the christmas greeting and that song is awesome too....man are these guys good...the songs that they dont wanna put on their albums are even amazing.....

*desperately needs new olp material
Is there something good, something more?
Is there anything worth dying for?

ditto.
"When looking up there, I just felt whole, like I belonged. Like one day I too would shine my most brilliant. Sitting there also made me think about sitting through services at my little country church back home. About that never-changing congregation of the same sixty-seven people and everyone has known you since before you were born. Now, out here in the real world, everything just seemed more vivid than when I used to sit in that little pew. That pew that was now so, so far away from where I was. I feared I had somehow left God behind there, too. I feared he was somehow just sitting there, saving my seat on the fifth pew from the front row, just waiting on me to come back. I left so quickly, I worried that he may not have noticed I was gone. And, now, I’m just too far away to find. So he’s just sitting there, patiently waiting on me to come back. I closed my eyes and prayed a moment. I hoped more than anything that he could still hear me." -an excerpt from my novella, A Sea of Fallen Leaves.

Considering they have completed probably about 40-50 songs I'm doubting many of the songs we've heard will be on the album... Maybe one or two but some of the early ones probably won't.

Won't bother me if Not Afraid, Wipe, and WIC didn't make it. None I really hope against, except maybe Vampires.

I want Don't Ask Why to make it.

Sounds like "Picture" and "Holy Ghost" will be on it too, although we haven't heard those.

I walked downstairs today after waking up to hear "Danger Zone" blaring from the office.

I liked the first version of Not Afraid better, it seemed less sappy to me, and i like Vamires and Wipe, think they should put out a couple CD's ha ha ha

I really don't like Not Afraid. Its so poppy, that it gets annoying after a few minutes. Besides, they have so much material and this song has already been released. It would be nice if something else made it on the record instead of Not Afraid.

If i'm not mistaken, jeremy said that the Labatt version is going to be on the new CD. I know how you feel, it's a great song, it sounds great. ut it doesn't seem like it goes withh what they're going for. Personally, I love it but it's not the kind of song I will put on repeat and listen to over and over again. The Juno's version did that for me, it's still a fab. song though. I love it.

I don't even think its a great song. I think it was a decent song that they dumbed down and didn't put any effort into, but thats just me.

And just for the record, Jeremy says a lot of crap. He also said that the album would be out late 2003. No offence to him or anything, but he's not a terribly reliable source.

with some revved up guitars and some energetic drumming Not Afraid could have been good...........as it stands its kind of a throwaway.....not a bad song by any means, just better not be one of your 10-12 best for the new record which is suppose to be "their best".

While I absolutely love "Not Afraid", unlike some of you, I also hope it doesn't make the album. We've already got the studio version... I'd rather hear another new song in it's spot. ;)

i dont think anything released 6 months before an album comes out, should be on it.

maybe it's just me, but i dont think i've ever even heard of that happening.

^ true....

and i agree with nikki's point that it was already released and we have the studion version....so give us something else in its place....although it does have appeal to be a radio single.....just like innocent...not their best work...but it is (yes im gonna use the term) "radio friendly"
Is there something good, something more?
Is there anything worth dying for?
