your first post(s) ever.

Post by megxyz128 »

okay. since everyone's pretty much a dork the first time they post here (or first couple posts ... ) i figured it would be fun to look back on what we sounded like when we were newbies.

ok the rules. you can either choose your very first post ever or a post from your first page of posts (find yourself, click on your profile, click find all posts..., go to your last page). it'll be fun, i'll do 2.

i think the first one is super funny because i don't even listen to that CD anymore and i pretty much dislike both of those bands. the second ine is my first post ever OMG. haha. oh man i was even going the whole annoying blue writing thing and typing my name after every post thing back then, at least i don't do the name thing anymore. okay your turns.

Ahh! I love the Strokes, their album is in my top 5 of all time, definitely, hopefully I'm going to The Strokes/White Stripes concert August 9th cuz it's only a half hour away, keep fingers crossed I get the tickets off of eBay. - Megan

Hey I heard from several people that there will be an OLP show in Detroit in September, anyone have any more information on this??? Also, does anyone know when they're doing the Canadian tour, because if they go to Windsor I could see them there also. more OLP, *sigh*.

Yeah it's raining like a mo outside so I better go before my computer goes out. - Megan

Great idea Meghan.

I vote for MGB as they're definitely my fave band after OLP... though some days I have to remind myself that it's not the other way around

 my first post on an olp board was me pimping a completely different band.

Yeah, I agree the titles are interesting. I also think that 'Bring Back The Sun" is gonna rock. Don't know why, though, just a gut feeling I guess.

Peace... 8-)

"When looking up there, I just felt whole, like I belonged. Like one day I too would shine my most brilliant. Sitting there also made me think about sitting through services at my little country church back home. About that never-changing congregation of the same sixty-seven people and everyone has known you since before you were born. Now, out here in the real world, everything just seemed more vivid than when I used to sit in that little pew. That pew that was now so, so far away from where I was. I feared I had somehow left God behind there, too. I feared he was somehow just sitting there, saving my seat on the fifth pew from the front row, just waiting on me to come back. I left so quickly, I worried that he may not have noticed I was gone. And, now, I’m just too far away to find. So he’s just sitting there, patiently waiting on me to come back. I closed my eyes and prayed a moment. I hoped more than anything that he could still hear me." -an excerpt from my novella, A Sea of Fallen Leaves.

From a thread about Exposed. It was in orange.

This wasn't on my first page, but on my second page I made a thread entitled "Pronounciation of Maida". :uh:

Most of the first posts I made we're about OLP.

This one seemed weird in comparison.

So here's mine....

Hey, anyways this is my first post, and i just downloaded the album (i had to give in...) just kinda been watching from a far as to everything...

anyways getting to the point i voted for Do You Like It...
but it was a toughee thats for sure

followed by...

Sorry all the way
I woulda wanted Innocent but thats alright, Sorry is right up there with it
GO SORRY GO!!!

I must have really liked Sorry lol

This is in regards to Innocent lol I apparently didn't know the words...
ok this is probably in the top 3 for fave songs on Gravity for me...
Its got such a great hook and it just seems to be very relatable for everyone.
I'll find myself in class just all of a sudden start singing "I remember feeling low, I remember losing all, I remember all these feelings and the day they stopped" I'll admit my arms are quite bruised from them hitting me cause they dont enjoyt the high parts LOL
but ya this is a great song, i would have to think that this and Made of Steel will be the next 2 singles...

 Alan said this about Innocent:

The song says so much in its simplicity. The meanings aren't vague like most of their songs, but this song is still applicable to everyday life. The song is great, and I think the song would be better if he didn't try to hold back his voice and go higher with some of the words (if anyone understands what I am saying.) I am going to love hearing this song as a single, if it gets released. I personally think this song would be the perfect song to follow up Somewhere Out There.

I like Bright Eyes. My favorite is A Perfect Sonnet.

Hmm. That was my first post. how original of me.

Matthew Good is amazing. In fact, Matthew Good Band is the only band that even comes in close to tickling my fancy as much as Our Lady Peace.
I think pretty much every Matt Good song is awesome, but my favorite at the moment is "Going all the Way."

lol I said "tickling my fancy" I'm soooooo coool (not).

WTF! Those are my first two posts. I never even introduced myself or said 'hi i'm new' or anything like that.

So hi everyone, my name is Carrie. jeeeeeeeeeeez.
don't look now, just keep watching the TV hating what's too see waiting for someone to say something that's right.

I think the people at the magazine choose a song that they like and put that on. I know when SM came out they put Middle of Yesteday on the CD and that wasn't a single (or was it? We didn't have any SM singles over here at all , but I didn't think that MOY was a single)

At least half the posts on my first page seem to be me ranting about my step mother and the rest are either OLP or Good Charlotte related.
Open your eyes to nights and days, you close them up and float away
and somehow inbetween you've got to master lying to yourself
you back the cause, get out of school, you get a job, the job gets you
and somehow every day you end up serving somebody else
now if that ain't panic that you're feeling, then you damn well better start
you can drive it into that head of yours with the hammer in your heart.

And it's alriiiiiiiight now, take the world and make it yours again.

Great thread idea.

Is Ordinary actually an OLP song? I thought it got spread around on file sharing programs under OLP's name, but it didn't sound like them to me. Maybe I'm wrong or thinking of something else, though.

Wow, I have learned a lot since I joined. And brought a complete, much better quality recording of Ordinary to the hub.

A few posts later:

I would have to go with The Bends. With either Kid A or Amnesiac being 2nd place.

All I've really known all along is that Pablo Honey is not my favorite Radiohead album.[/quote]

I did a little bit of ninja work, these aren't mine.

Guess who!

First post:
All of my Our Lady Peace disc's are in mint condition cept' for Clumsy. Its my favorite CD and its falling apart! The case is cracked all to hell and is holding together by crazy glue. Looks like it has veins. The booklet crumpled and torn etc. I'm not buying a new one either!

Shugga!

Queens Of The Stone Age-Someone's In The Wolf

Once you're lost in twillights's blue
You don't find your way, the way finds you...

Tempt the fates, beware the smile
It hides all the teeth, my dear,
What's behind them...

So glad you could stay
Forever

He steps between the trees, a crooked man
There's blood on the blade
Don't take his hand

You warm by the firelight, in twilight's blue
Shadows creep & dance the walls
He's creeping too..

So glad you could stay
Forever

From the vault:

Well, the lyrics for the song are posted at olp.cc . If you listen to the 3 or 4 versions of the song that are floating around, they pretty much match up with what Rich & Shelly have listed. The reason they sound messed up is because they have shortened it for the audio clip. I still say it's a live track though. Of course nothing is set in stone, so I could be just as wrong as the next person

Yes. Nikki ripped it, and it is up for share on the hub. I'd send it to you but somebody's file list *cough* nikki *cough* doesn't like me

I can't play cause my posts are totally effed up... It tells me my first post is from 1969 which it isn't, then the next post it actually shows a real date, I don't think that was my first post either... It's like my first post has been erased and exists only in some crazy world... maybe DIMENSION X!!!!

My first post was when this board didn't exist though, it was the Al posting naked women/st. louis blues/olp website.

Those were the days!
