REM - Around The Sun
Open your eyes to nights and days, you close them up and float away
and somehow inbetween you've got to master lying to yourself
you back the cause, get out of school, you get a job, the job gets you
and somehow every day you end up serving somebody else
now if that ain't panic that you're feeling, then you damn well better start
you can drive it into that head of yours with the hammer in your heart.

And it's alriiiiiiiight now, take the world and make it yours again.

Menomena - I am the Fun Blame Monster
6ths - Wasps' Nest
Magnetic Fields - 69 Love Songs Pt. 3
Books - The Lemon of Pink
American Music Club - Everclear
The Wrens - Meadowlands
The Arcade Fire - Funeral
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

Greenday-American Idiot and The scorpions-greatest hits millenium edition

Queens Of The Stone Age-Someone's In The Wolf

Once you're lost in twillights's blue
You don't find your way, the way finds you...

Tempt the fates, beware the smile
It hides all the teeth, my dear,
What's behind them...

So glad you could stay
Forever

He steps between the trees, a crooked man
There's blood on the blade
Don't take his hand

You warm by the firelight, in twilight's blue
Shadows creep & dance the walls
He's creeping too..

So glad you could stay
Forever

I didn't get a discount on any of those. I spent just over $100 on them actually. I was in Rhode Island at Newbury Comics and these were cds I couldn't find in Michigan, so I just bit the bullet and bought them. I've never seen a cd by the Wrens or the Books in Michigan, so I couldn't let those go. Then Menomena barely gets carried outside of local record stores in Portland, Oregon. No one in Michigan tends to carry Vol. 3 of 69 Love Songs, so I had to get that one. The Arcade Fire is hard to come by because they're based out of Montreal and don't get much press over in America, and I found American Music Club used, so I picked it up.

But I end up getting my cds at cost, plus 5% (so the store never loses money on employees) along with everything else. It's pretty sweet, because some cds are marked up like whoah. Hell, I get pretty much anything independant or with a cult following for dirt cheap, like Jeff Buckley, Nick Drake, The Clash, and punk album from the 70s, any post-punk album from the 80s, and anything indepenant for like under $7. It is hard to turn down.

That place is like cocaine to me. It's the absolute best store I've been in. It carries more indepenant records than any of my hole-in-the-wall shops could ever imagine. It's disgusting. I could have left that store with about 25 cds that I wanted, and some of them were out of print. I didn't know what to do with myself when I was in there.

If I ever work retail when I leave Best Buy, it has to be there. It just has to be. That place is too fucking awesome to not want to work at, even though there must be a litany of morons that walk in there every single day trying to rob the place.

I attempted to round out my Matt Good collection while in Canada: LOTGA, Underdogs, Beautiful Midnight, and Audio of Being. Had them as mp3's but it's nice to finally own the albums. Also picked up The Trews - House of Ill Fame.
