And it's not like OLP are going to fly all the way over here just for one show in Denmark. Last I heard they were planning on coming over here for the next album, but things always change so we won't know for sure until it happens.

And the thing about harrassing OLP's Danish rep. was a joke. But you wouldn't recognise that through the shroud of negativity that seems to cover you.

Negative or realistic?

Unless the band somehow pops out a massive commercial success (a la clumsy) I really don't forsee them being around for much more than 3 years. Now that families are being started it'll become increasingly difficult for them to continue touring overseas, something which has been a relatively short lived experience, and only because they were able to tag along with another band.

If I were Sony I wouldn't be spending the money on OLP to tour Europe, never mind South America, Austrailia, or Asia. It's a business and unless OLP comes up with another massive album, it would be a waste of money on Sony's part. Might as well pop that money into Avril cause the dollars spent on her will go farther.

You're right it would be smarter to put the money into Avril Lavigne, except she's with RCA-Artista. And by the way, on sonymusic.ca the Our Lady Peace Community is listed as the third most active community, just underneath Celine Dion. They obviously do have a fanbase, i dooubt that they only have a 2-3 years left in them. They have become rock icons in Canada. It might not seem to much but they're on of those bands up in the stratosphere. I think that if OLP only last for 2-3 more years it will be the band's decision not Sony's.

I never said it will be Sony's decision to split up the band. Secondly, RCA is a sub-label under SonyBMG. For the most part the cash is still going to the same place.

Also I just checked where you got that OLP are number 3 on the most popular list for fan boards. First off, not all fans have the internet so that doesn't mean a thing. Second, Some guy named Garou is in first, and Adam Gregory is in 4th apparently. Now since there aren't totals nor rankings, just a list, I'm going to have to say that the list is in no particular order, and it is just mentioning artists of different genres.

Just to point something out.

Last time I checked, but becoming rock icons and having families usually ends a band, not prolong their togetherness. They might be icons in Canada, but they have relatively little success in America, where they're repeatedly tried to break through at, and generally failed. The opportunity for them to hit it big passed them by with Spiritual Machines, and now they're just making music to make it.

They're the Canadian Replacements. They're a band that by all means should be the biggest thing around, but for some reason, just never got the mainstream success despite albums of excellence. Yes, it sucks, but that's how it is. Their lack of mainstream success in America will cause them to break up, like the Replacements did.

That's just how it is.
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

You people have to stop generalizing. They're people, people are unpredictable. Just because someone does something, it doesn't mean everyone does. Instead of trying to predict the future, how about everyone just sit back and enjoy the ride, however long it lasts?

And, yes, that includes those of you who don't even like the band anymore. :P

OLP never really had a HUGE success as you say, but they have the support of fans all over. That is what really matters to them. Not what the record companies think, but what they think themselves and the fan support.

OLP have a massive internet followins. Look at the places people post from on here.

None of us on here know how long the band will or won't be around. They probably don;t even know. Hell I don't even know how much longer I will be around. There is no reason for the negativity there.

Agree.

OLP did a headline European tour 2 years ago. They could do it again.
Open your eyes to nights and days, you close them up and float away
and somehow inbetween you've got to master lying to yourself
you back the cause, get out of school, you get a job, the job gets you
and somehow every day you end up serving somebody else
now if that ain't panic that you're feeling, then you damn well better start
you can drive it into that head of yours with the hammer in your heart.

And it's alriiiiiiiight now, take the world and make it yours again.
