The most rockish ones are pablo honey and the bends. You could start off with those if you want to. I personally started off with Kid A and Hail to the Thief. At first I started to lose interest, but the songs are an acquired taste. After a while, they started to grow on me. Now Hail to the Thief is my favorite Radiohead album.

Don't buy Pablo Honey, it sucks (save for Creep). Start at The Bends and work your way up.

I'll agree with hpdfk and Kid A and say that you should start off with The Bends. I love that album, but out of the ones I have (bends, ok computer, kid a, amnesiac) OK Computer is my favourite.

How does Hail to the Thief measure up to the other albums? I want to buy it but it's hideously expensive.

Honestly, I'm not a Radiohead Junkie and don't have all the albums, so I suppose I can't compare. But I think hail to the thief is a nice mix of old and new. Tangible rock songs such as there, there, a wolf at the door, and a I will are all easy to grasp. Songs like Myxamatosis and sit down stand up can trace their roots to the kid A era. And then their are songs of hybrid style such as a drunken punchup at a wedding. All in all, their latest album acheives what I would call a middle ground between old and new styles. This is why I like it so much.

Hail is a great CD. For me, it's about equal to Amnesiac in quality. OKC and Kid A being the only albums better than those two.

Right now is doesn't seem like a good time to collect Radiohead albums though. For some reason they're all like $25-30! :wtf:

Oh and to answer your question, The Bends is the most rock and Kid A is the least.

I started with OK Computer, and that worked quite well. However, I suppose if you're looking for more rock sound, go with The Bends. I haven't heard Kid A or Pablo Honey, so I can't really say much about them. Amnesiac and Hail to the Thief took awhile to grow on me, but I love them now.

Buy these in order

The Bends
OK Computer
Pablo Honey

I don't like their last 3 albums so I won't include those.

All Radiohead albums (except OK Computer, I believe) are insanely priced. It sucks.

..I've said the word "insane" way too many times today.

SOngs that got me into Radiohead were

Karma Police
Fake Plastic Trees
Let Down
Idioteque
Sail to the Moon
Lucky
Street Spirit

I didnt like Hail to the Thief that much.....a few songs had some great atmosphere, but many of them made me sleepy or were just too weird. Ok Computer and The Bends are much more accessible.........after that they get weird.

Only one I own is The Bends... only one I want to own is The Bends. Tis a good album, in my mind they pretty much lost it after that (and I keep hearing that Pablo Honey is no good, so haven't bothered checking it out... though I prolly will at some point). Few other good songs, but not enough to make me buy any of the other albums. *shrugs* I find what they've become pretty boring. *runs*
