A question to those who said they didn't agree with abortion: Do you simply disagree with those who have abortions but respect their right to choose, or would you like to see the law actually changed to make it illegal? (just curious)

I want the law to state that abortion is illegal. I think a mothers choice shouldnt over ride the life of a child.

Secondly I think "pro choice" is mislabeling the issue. It should be "pro abortion" or "pro life." People who are againts abortion are not againts a womens right to choose. They are againts a particular choice, not choosing in general.

Question Cass. How can you be againts abortion and for stem cell use? If my information is correct a living embryo has to be used to gather stem cells or at least the amount of stem cells needed to create something. Maybe i'm confused, or wrong or what have you. Feel free to correct or enlighten me.

^ and isnt abortion always wrong too, based on Christian beliefs? at least it is in Catholicism

It is. I just dont let my religion dictate my beliefs. I was born/brought up catholic, but I dont live my life by its strict and usually descriminatory beliefs.

Edit:: I should add that I am <NOT> Catholic[anymore]. In The Very Least.

Well this is the way I see it and I know it's a little contradictory. But, abortion is always going to be legal in the country. Good can come from research done on the embryo or fetus, I'm not sure which it is. It's not my choice to kill it, but if they are going to do it, at least we can save some lives with their decision.

If you don't live by the beliefs of the Catholics, how can you be one?

Then you're not Catholic. You can't have a belief simply by birth. It's not something physical, or something your parents make you. It's something you decide. If you choose not to follow the beliefs of Catholicism, you're not a Catholic.

i don't know, my views on eating animals have totally changed millions of times. i think that because we can get by perfectly fine and be extremely healthy without eating them, then why do it. my belief on this is still forming, i mean, i still eat meat wihtout even thinking about it. but then again, i don't know about everyone else, but it is really hard to stop doing something you've been doing your whole life. iiii don't know, it's just an opinion.

as for my beliefs on eating animals .. they're pretty strong beliefs
these are my 2 favorite quotes:

"If slaughterhouses had glass walls, everyone would be a vegetarian." ~Paul McCartney

"A man can live and be healthy without killing animals for food; therefore, if he eats meat, he participates in taking animal life merely for the sake of his appetite." ~Leo Tolstoy

we don't have canine teeth, our bodies are actually more suited for a vegetarian lifestyle then tearing hide with our teeth .. i think it's completely unnatural and unnecessary .. "just because it's always been that way, doesn't mean it's right."

Joe Cool wrote:Gotcha. Well call me different but I care more about those around me than myself, so thats where i'm comming from. I know its easy saying that when I'm healthy but my position still stands. I'm pro life on all fronts.

By the same token, If your "Wife" was in excruciating pain 24/7, and was near death and wanted to go quicker, how would you feel? Would you support Euthanasia then?

I'd tell my "wife" that I didnt support euthanasia but it was her choice not mine.

If an operating room had glass walls, no one would want an operation either :P Also ive been to an abattoir and I still eat meat.

First point. the 3rd tooth around from the front on each side is an incisor. Its a canine tooth :P

Meat gives us iron. Fish gives us Omega 3. The only reason vegetarians can exist today without suffering ill effects is because of the advent of supplements\vitamin pills etc. Take them away and you're right up that well known creek without a paddle.

Now I respect your choice to be a vege. Plenty of my friends are veges too. I respect all your choices. And Im not here to dissuade you (even though it may appear so). But if you're a vege make sure you take the right supplements :)

My friend is a vegan, and she doesn't take supplements. :uhh:

Not all vegetarians/vegans do.
