You are the dancer,
cursed with a strength that captivates
and culminates
(transitively, it culminates)
in the terrible tombés that flourish
and the grand-jetés that soar
(transitively, they flourish
and soar).
But when your crowd rises
to their sleepy feet, I would
hook you aside
and furtively dole
these recycled words:
“You look like you scared
of hurting the floor. Cling
with peenkie toe like
you are cat. And
tighten butt,
jellyfish.”
wrote that for someone. not happy with that someone. happy with what i wrote.

Before Disillusionment
Like Molina,*
who awoke,
and fingered his forehead
for the soldier's scar
that he never earned,
so do I
sigh,
and tongue the ring
that isn't lodged
in my lower lip.
*Molina is a convicted child molester in Manuel Puig's novel, Kiss of the Spider Woman, who falls in love with his straight, political-prisoner, cell-mate, Valentin. The two develop a very unique relationship and grow closer with each day that passes, until one morning Molina awakes and finds himself surprised that he can't feel the scar over his left eye. This, of course, is because he never had the scar; it belongs to Valentin.
