Panning OLP music

I'm not sure if anyone has really tried this but it's something i was doing with Beatles music, and decided to try out with Some of OLP's stuff.

For those of you who don't know, panning is singling out the sound that comes out of either the left, or right speaker. There is even a way to phase out the centre speaker (meaning for the most part, the vocals) but it can only be done on a stereo, which I don't have access to at the moment.

This may not sound like a big deal, but it helps single out the little noises, bumps, and other various sounds that exist in the songs. For instance, panning on Sell My Soul allows you to hear better what Raine is muttering at the beginning of the song.

Any sound editing software can do it, and I think considering how much we all know each and every song, it's refreshing to hear OLP's music from a different perspective. If there are any lil quirks in a song that you're wondering about (and if you don't have the software to do so, post your enquiries here and I'll see if I can decipher anything.

Okay. I actually always though about something like this, didn't know it was really possible.

What is Raine muttering in "Sell My Soul" :freak:

I know in Everyone's a Junkie you can hear Raine saying "Get the feeling" on one channel.

I bet Happiness and Spiritual Machines would be the best albums to take a close listen to for this kinda stuff.

And before anybody asks If you play "Life" backwards it doesn't say Raine is dead.

ok, so in Sell my soul, Raine says "Check, Check, Check" and then either one of two things... "This is our survival" or "This is for Chantal" It's mostly just the last word that is hard to distinguish because of the drums.

Get The Feeling now can actually be heard in one channal followed by the other on EAJ.

i heard all of this stuff with my headphones and a discman....i just turned the volume up and listened to what he had to say, trying to listen past the main lyrics.

Easier than going into an editor to do this would be in Winamp, with the "panning bar". It's to the right of the volume control.

Allright... During the chorus of Made to Heal, Raine's yelling something in the background. It sounds to me like "I'm A God" over and over.

can anybody help?

If this is during the "I'm a thief" part, it sounds like "Maybe I'm everyone?" to me.

Anything from Happiness or SM. Those two albums are layered with sound, whereas Naveed, Clumsy and (cough, choke) Gravity, are fairly straight forward, as far as layering goes.

ya I hear "Oh My God, I'm everyone" but I'm gonna get the song on my computer and take a closer look. I didn't realize that he said that in the background until almost a year after I got the album. I just never picked up on it.

How about during the wonderful future when their talking, on my computer it sounds like something is being said in the background but i don't know if it's static or an echo.

They just say the name of who's talking when they start. I was wondering if there was an echo in that for a while, and then I firgure it out.
