I can (sorta) see both ways.

People are supposed to have a right to vote, the fear created by such an attack would silence a lot of people.

But Bush is a manipulative fuck. So I'm guessing he's really not thinking along these lines. So damn.

The a terrorist attack's affect on the election is a valid concern, it's pretty clear that the Bush administration would jump on the chance to exploit it.

The conservative side of politics has done stupid stuff before to mess with elections.

In 2000, police officers in Florida were told to park their cars near polling places in areas with a high concentration of blacks. This being because blacks traditionally vote democrat but don't like going near the police, effectively keeping some of them away from the polls.

Florida, a state where Jeb Bush (the governor) and Katherine Harris (secretary of state) were heads of the Bush election campaign.

How come they weren't concentrating on it before the planes crashed into the WTC, Pentagon, and the field in PA.

How come we didn't stop the Japanese from attacking us? Sorry Gail, but hindsight is 20/20, you should know that.

And it really saddens me that you guys think that anyone who votes republican is stupid or has a character flaw. What a sweeping generalization, that's as bad as republicans saying all you Dems are idiotic assholes.

I'd have to agree with Cass. That is a very big sweeping generalization.

I'll spell it out for you guys:

How did Hitler gain absolute control of his democratic government? He did things like delay elections.

are you guys seeing the connection here?

I actually thought that. I was working so couldn't respond earlier, but it was the first thing I actually thought about when they were considering legislation towards being able to postpone elections. The resemblance certainly is there.

We wanted to get into WWII, so we let the Japanese attack Pearl Harbor. It's not a coincidence that every single high-ranking official was away from the area right before the attack.

That's all I have to say about that.
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

Well you did say it was a character flaw and Aerin said it could be out of stupidity. Sure it could be out of pride. But *gasp*, God forbid someone actually WANTED to vote George Dubya.

out of pride yes many people will, and as far as i'm concerned many people are voting Dubya because they have a character flaw

it's not even an dem vs republican thing anymore, he's fucked up bad even if your republican, hence the pride part of what i'm saying. There have been some decent republican's but at this point he's obviously not one of them, even if i was republican i woudln't want george running.

I think anyone who votes Kerry has a major character flaw.

That is just the most ridiculious thing I've ever heard anyone say.

see the thing is i can back up what i say with facts, what can you say about voting Kerry that makes tem have a character flaw? Believing and supporting many of the things Bush does IS A CHARACTER FLAW. Because George was has a very flawwed character and to believe the same as mean you do aswell. In your case i assume it's more of a raised republican and pride thing because you don't seem to have a character flaw

i'd also like to add that if George was any sort of freedom fighter he woudl have been fighting his ass off in Nam with Kerry, but the man ran away while others died for their country, and then he has the balls to insult a man who was there and highly decorated for his service there. George takes human life to lightly for my likings, even his own men and women, as long as they're not himself and his family that is.

Give me a break. There is plenty that could be said about Kerry that would easily make a vote for him a "character flaw". Maybe you haven't noticed but this is a very liberal community so we tend to only throw mud at Republicans. We also don't like to recognize the good points that Bush has accomplished, or ignore them, or just flat out don't agree that they were good. That's fine, that's your opinion, but not sharing your opinion does not mean it is a character flaw.

Let's start this post with a little fact finding.

John Kerry voted for the war.

Kerry = Bush

Bush = Kerry

If kerry wins the election is the war on terror magically going to end? I doubt it.

Yes, society only throws mud at republicans. Bill Clinton never existed. We didn't have a president from 1992-2000.
