OLP Canadian Industry Ties
OLP Canadian Industry Ties
Is it just me or does OLP have almost no Ties to any of Canada's music industry? Every other band has tons of artists thanked in there albums. They all seem to get along, party together, tour together and seem to generally be friends. Everyone seems to be interconnected, excpet OLP. OLP are connected to F11......and that's like it.

I don't know if they're friends with a lot of Canadian bands. Most bands have to tour endlessly to get anywhere, and because of that you get to know other bands doing the same thing. Success in Canada was kind of handed to OLP. I mean, selling that well with your second album is pretty amazing. And then surviving to release four more albums...

Yeah, they're tied to like, Avril Lavigne and Simple Plan, that's about it....

I always got the impression they were friends with, like, everyone... Jeremy seems to be, anyway.

Jeremy is maybe somewhat more connected. but it seems like all of them party and buddy buddy, and stuff. and OLP are just kinda not there, maybe it's cause they're old buddies are all disbanded ie Moist, Edwin, IME, Treblecharger

OLP seem to have ties with everyone. Mostly Jeremy. For instance when Jeremy had an injury during the recording of spiritual machines. The Pearl Jam drummer stepped in and did the drums for a couple of songs on the album. So that's a tie with Pearl Jam. Then during the song "hero" off the spiderman soundtrack he played the drums in the video. Hence more connections.
And we can't forget Summersault! OLP were the organizers of it! OLP sat down with Smashing Pumpkins ..."Fact on OLP.cc" ...and Smashing Pumpkins agreed to tour with them across Canada. Now Finger 11 also did that touring also, hence connection aleady made. Now OLP made had to make a lot of connections in order for the bands to play. So OLP are a band with big connections I think. And a band that knows what they want and take the initiative to do so

yeah maybe, but i was more talking about the Canadian music industry, if you see them all they all seem to be closeknit and then there's olp kinda like the veterns that don't really associate much

I couldn't say they are friends with bands or not.
How many bands are really friends? They are too busy touring, recording, etc to have any kind of friendship in the sense we would call a friend,
Jeremy is friends with Matt Cameron, that is why Matt did drumming on SM and Jeremy did the Hero Video. Jeremy even saw PJ down here in NYC when they did Lettermen a few years back.
If you really read CD's-most bands thanked are thanked because they either toured with the band or the band helped them with some part of recording the cd. OLP doesn't really thank any other bands, musicians in their thanks on their CD or DVD. I don't think much of it.
They may know alot of people from being at the same events, but it is hard to be really friends with someone when you are constantly on the road or in the studio.
I don't even see the people i call friends as much as I like too.

I'd say they have connections. Just cause they don't mention them in the liner notes doesnt mean they dont have celebrity friends. I mean, unless its someone that actually helped put the album together, why would they thank them?
Anyway...think of all the bands they took on summersault. What about all the award shows and parties they are spotted at. Isn't Jer doing the Celb Golf thing? Didn't he also do the Juno hockey thing?

I think the person who started this was asking if they ties cause they weren't mentioned or thanked in liner notes. SO I said OLP don't really thank anyone in their liner notes either.
YOu did bring up a good point with the golf thing though.
