First of all, you're not making any sense at all. Just because I don't like what the band's doing now doesn't mean I have to stop liking what they used to do.

And the animosity towards Mike is illogical. If by "stuck in the past" you mean "have different musical tastes", then you're fine.

Exactly.

Disliking one album doesn't make you any less of a fan. It doesn't necessarily mean you wouldn't want to see them in concert, or do anything else that a "fan" might do.

Yes. The Mike part was the thing that stuck out for me... I'd probably have less respect for him if he had decided to not play music he wanted and stuck with the band.

Of course, if he had stuck with the band I would probably not know he was making music he didn't want to.

I am confusing myself :(
I just wanna get out,

And we're back to my statement.

Everyone fucking sucks. I won't debate this. If you want to say anything about how much OLP rules or sucks, that's fine, you still suck. No one cares anymore. This thread made it 13 pages too far.

Let's all just come to terms with it. We're not fans because we don't like this version of Not Afraid, or throught Gravity was weak, or we like an older album better. Whatever the reason, everyone fucking sucks.

Don't get me wrong, if you liked Gravity, Not Afraid, or anything OLP has done, you still fucking suck too. Please remember this. It's just how it goes, each and every one of you suck.

Now lock the thread.
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

this is a message board. there a bound to be clashes of personality, opinion and interpretations of situations and thing.

obviously, what i think is dfrnt to alot of others. i am not saying you shud STOP being a fan, or NOT go to their concerts. i was just simply saying that OLP would prefer their "fans" to support them in whatever they do. im sure they wudnt like to hear half their fanbase tell them that Gravity sucks, when they're obviously proud of it

The unfortunate part is, being a message board there are people that had this discussion at least a year ago that had actual arguments, unlike this case. Eventually, it was finally dead. We had come to an unspoken Gravity agreement that some people liked it and some people didn't and we that was just peachy keen. But now the addition of ‘Not Afraid’ has opened this goddamned argument again and people are really tired of it. Its no offence to you, or your opinion - but we don't care anymore. Sorry.

Oh, I would also like to point out that being a 'fan' does no way constituent clone-like agreement with everything they say or do.

what if they want to practice necrophilia? would you still support them then? eh? :freak:

note: don't ask where that came from. i've been reading up on serial killers a lot lately.

1. We like it when people here spell out words completely. Try it, it makes your arguments look less like they came from a 12 year old.

2. You clearly know what people you haven't met want.

3. Please stop. No one wants to keep talking about this, but you keep saying stupid shit that makes the thread keep going. Read this, let it digest in your mind, then don't respond. No one wants to hear that they're not a fan because they don't like how this song was recorded, especially from you. Got it?

I know some of you are fans who dislike Gravity.........but its hard to take when you call it s piece of shit and start ripping the band to shreds even though you say you are a fan.. ITs not criticism......its just an emotional orangutang.

and Jesus, lets not kill everyone for having bad spelling........since when did that become such a hot issue.....he still makes it easy to read his arguements regardless of his technical proficiency.

And I agree, there are a few cliques on this board.......I've noticed some hypocrisy but I guess everyone's had enough. THis whole issue comes down to opinion and semantics.

mm.. i could b way off here but i have no problem with people having creative criticism about olps music and the likes. but i think some people dont show them any respect anymore, which is a shame, and it just seems to me the people who have no respect in almost every topic become repetitive. which is why i hardly post here at all and normally just lurk around cos i just feel if i compliment olps music it will 50% likely the comment will b taken to pieces. like i am sure i read someone in another topic say olp should've gave it up after spiritual machines, ok its an opinon but that sorta comment just seems so disrespectful. i mean they are still on the go after 10 years and still trying to change things up. so yeah no problem with people calling gravity a really bad album(i like it personally), just the respect thing.

i like olp:)

Prince looks kind of like Michael Jackson (.MJ., eh? eh??). Only, you know, like a thousand times less creepy.

Both valid points. However, I could see MJ looking like that in the mid-nineties, when all his plastic surgery was starting to show.

Hmm... where's that MJ timeline thing...?

this is real pathetic. havin a go at peoples spelling and the way they type, if you understand it then thats all that matters. but some of you take time out to try and belittle people. very sad.

on topic i like not afraid.

BAM! You know you've got problems when John schools you!

Anyways, seriously. It's not that the longer-termed fans are more right than you - it's that the things you've said aren't exactly great arguments. Saying things like "you're all like Mike Turner - stuck in the past" is a) illogical - you're not thinking about the fact that Mike contributed a lot to the band on the first four albums, and that he clearly isn't stuck in the past, since he's moved on to create more music that is developing in a different direction, b) is offensive - saying that you're right and everyone else is stuck in the past is essentially raising yourself above everyone else.

The fact of the matter is, you have to earn respect on this board. We're a fairly tight community, and the way to make your voice heard and your opinion taken seriously is not to insult others. Say what you'd like, but you have to expect equal in return.
