Modest Mouse Poll

I know they have gained a lot of new fans since the release of "Good News..." and I was just curious as to who liked them before the new album was released.

Brutus is an honorable man
It's just coincidence that oil men will wage war in an oil rich land
And this one goes out to my man taking cover in the trenches with a gun in his hand
Then gets home and no one flinches when he can't feed his fam...

But Brutus is an honorable man...

I like Float On but nothing else.

I appreciate the small amount of hype surrounding them, though. You usually don't get much press when you play that kind of music.

I liked them before, and still like them. I was always a fan of the song "Paper Thin Walls" myself. I'm glad they are getting air time and they didn't have to drastically change their style.

And he can't understand how everyone goes on breathing when true love ends, his mother whispers quietly... heaven's not a place that you go when you die, it's that moment in life when you actually feel alive

Yeah, I've liked them for a while. They were good, then irritating, then good. Now they're just popular.

It's good to see an indie band get some recognition.
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

every indie band and their mother are getting attention.
we are the brand new beatniks. we are the down and outers.
we are the bleeding hearts, beating syncopated, broken rhythm.
our speed is often break neck. we need to slow it down.
tired of being sleepless. tired of being broken.

Your band isn't. Is it even a band yet?

Oh snap, you just got owned bitch!

No one's paying any attention to Sufjan Stevens, The Magnetic Fields, Guided By Voices, or bands in that vain (even though none of them are alike in any way whatsoever). And they're oodles more talented than anything dominating the mainstream.

indie being a style of music, not what kind of record label you are (or are not) on. to be honest, i find that the majority of that kind of music is for pussies. i really can't stand that shit. but that's me. no offense to anyone.

no i love how things, such as in this case, indie, get whored up just because it's the new flavour of the month. makes me angry because if its something i'm into, all of a sudden i'm hypocritical and shallow. but this isn't about me...

it's fast-paced consumerism! :clumsy:

It's silly. I wish we could go back to the 60's when everything wasn't controlled by a few corporations.

I can't get Float On out of my head and I don't even like it that much.

However, it's so addictive that it's growing on me.

The Moon & Antarctica is the second best record of the new millennium. Haven't heard anything else by them though. Soon enough...

Yeah, welcome to the list of jackasses that need to be banned. You're right up with the fucktard from the UK that keeps telling people like Robbo and I to leave the messageboard we've been on for years now.

Just to reiterate, you fucking suck.
