But what if the older stuff wasn't in fact their best? What if Gravity is by far the highest quality album??

. . . okay I can't even say that without my eye starting to twitch :wtf:

Every now and then I fall out into open air just to feel the wind, rain and everything.
And though the hum and sway gets me down
, I'll find the way to peace and openness.

there's no guarantee that this will be the version on the album...maybe they went with different lyrics in the album version, or hopefully a different production style in the cd...if in fact it will appear on the album.

Yeah, changing like five words won't take the suck out of it.
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

this could easily be just a promo of it... they released and performed all kinds of promo's of the old songs. this could be the case now. nobody has the official tracklist of the ablum, so no1 can say yet

I Still am wondering about Raines response about making the new cd raw,
because This new Version of NA, is defintly not under that category.

It's weird cuz all of us here agree that the older stuff is more original and better than Gravity, and some of us even wince or flinch at the very thought of gravity... but when you see interviews and stuff like that OLP seems to be the most proud of Gravity out of all their albums out so far.

That's because they are making the music that makes THEM happy. It's our choice to like it or dislike it. It's 50/50 with the CM. :D

yea but wouldnt you think that musicians like them can tell the superiority of their earlier albums, if any olp fan can? I personally blame bob rock for the decline in originality of OLP

It was the band's choice to use (and keep working with) Bob Rock. You can't *totally* blame him for the sound.

Ok. Think about it. Our Lady Peace's most recent studio full length release was Gravity. If they said that they weren't proud of it, that's bad for record sales so of course they are going to say they're proud of it. Every band and artist does it.... with the exception of matt good.

The made the album. They wrote it, played it, recorded it, and sold it. If it was something they hated they wouldnt have made it. But obviously the band doesn't have the perspective we have. They arn't going to be able to compare albums or anything because they are not fans of their own music. They are doing what they want. Get over it.

I don't know why everyone dislikes Gravity so much. It's my second favoutie OLP album only behind Naveed. I realize it doesn't have the unique and distinct sound of the other albums but it's still great music, it's change. And change is what OLP is all about, Clumsy is different than Naveed, Happiness.....is different than Clumsy, Spiritual Machines is different than Happiness and Gravity is different than Spiritual Machines. I don't see a problem. I would rather see them make a different, more mainsteram type of record than simply a Naveed/Clumsy/Happiness/Spiritual Machines part 2. Because I know if they made a record just like one of their previous ones, everyone would be bitching about that and be blaming Mr. Rock.

And this is my opinion, it may be different than yours but that's what opinions are about. And don't assume I'm just some 14 year old kid who heard SOT on the radio and jumped on the bandwagon who hasn't heard anything other than their singles because i've been a fan for a long time and just because i'm a "newbie" doesn't mean I just became a fan.

^ I'm with you....

OLP make music they like because they love to make music....that is what they do....they will stop doing it when they stop loving it....they continue to make it because they want to challenge themselves to do something better or something different than before...when the creativity and/or love of music is gone, it will be over....until then they will continue to challenge themselves to make creetive and different music than they have in the past, because that is what they like to do....they just hope that we like it and if we dont....somebody else might....if they cared that much about selling millions of albums, they would have given up by now cause they have not done close to that.....if you cant sell a million records in the states then you are not really that successful down there, and that is the case with OLP
Is there something good, something more?
Is there anything worth dying for?
