"Not Afraid" giveaway not making alot of sense

Post by Mark Loj »

Do anyone else think this is weird? Why would you release a song that might be your "single" for your upcoming album in a 28-pack of beer? I kinda got to thinking and maybe the song didn't even make the album, and this is sort of a b-sides release. Because "Do you like it" and "In Repair" didn't make the live CD, maybe "Not Afraid" didn't make the album, but OLP decided to release it instead of shelving it. What do you think?

what would be cool is if someone actually posted the song in a thread so i could actually listen to it.

Can't happen. I don't think we have enough space left to upload attachments. Heh. I tried to attach a picture the other day, and got an error, so I went in and deleted some of the biggest attachments on the board. That won't last us long, though.

Plus, like I posted in another thread... it'll eat up all our bandwidth.

Yeah, I tried to upload stuff too, but I had to delete some of my unused uploads too.

*pokes Al* How much space do we have on this thing? Can we afford to up the total upload limit higher than 75 megs?

I don't think it'll be their first single, or at least it wouldn't be too great of an idea to release it as their first single considering that fans who've been to the shows will have nothing new to enjoy, and crazy fans like us would have been sick to death of it by the time it's released.

Therefore.. if OLP and management are smart, they won't release it as the first single.

I hope this doesn't make the album. It's catchy and radio friendly but I don't think it'll fit with the other songs on the album. Releasing it through Labatt was a good idea for fans because we get to hear it.....

I like some of the instrumentation with the xylophone thingy even if it doesn't quite fit the song , and it has a soaring 80's quality, but hopefully they either give a more rock feel to it, or just leave it off. If its one of the later tracks I wouldn't be upset...

I'd like to think I know how regular posters act on this board.

(I'm not claiming I actually do know)

People who have the file will want you to get it on the hub. There is no sending it through MSN for you to post it elsewhere. If you don't have hub access, you are screwed.

You're right, it's not hard at all.

Unless you're at university and they've blocked everything.

It's not so much that, it's just that we'd like to encourage people to get involved, get the hub and share. Otherwise we'd just end up sending the file to every Joe Shmoe who'd never visit the board again.

The hub is incredibly easy to get, and there's plenty of people to help if one needs it.

I see your point. But I'm sure there are people who, if they wanted the file that badly, would join, get the song, and never go back. There's no way to ensure hub member retention.

That's true, but it's also just a pain for everyone to lend their bandwidth to n00bs who just read about the track from R&S's site.

Yeah. I'm just bitter because I can't get onto the hub.
