Elvin Jones passed away

Ray Charles, another Jazz legend died yesterday.



Despite being blind, he was a musical genious, composing since age 12. And even though he couldn't see, he was always able to make a charismatic smile. That smile defined him as a person (see blues brothers and you'll know what I'm talking about).

Ray Charles did a song with one of my favorite bands in early 90's.

INXS. A song called * Please, you got that* I saw them do Lettermen with him.

It is sad. I was watching something on VH1 late last night when tye had something scrawl across the screen about him dying.

I loved how he was able to perform with the younger performers( see we are the world) etc. He will be missed. In the last few years teh Jazz world and R/B world has lost some great legends.

Miles, Elvin, now Ray. It is sad.
