Alright people. I've FINALLY found the best spyware/adware removal stuff anywhere, and I no longer have LimeShop or WeatherBug! Here is the list of stuff I have protecting my computer (if anyone's interested):

Norton Systemworks - antivirus and all that good stuff.

Spybot Search & Destroy - I think we all know about this one.

Bazooka - doesn't remove spyware or adware, but lets you know exactly what you have within a second of pushing the button to find out... then gives you a link to a page that tells you how to remove it.

Spyware Blaster and Spyware Guard - these are by the same company... don't know if they're really doing anything, but they're supposed to block incoming stuff (won't remove already existing stuff, though)... and so far haven't had any problems running along side of Spybot.

PestPatrol - awesome AWESOME program... the one the finally killed LimeShop for me... you've gotta make sure to get the version people pay for, though, cos the trial doesn't actually remove anything. Only problem is it seems to have a limit of 50 it can find at once... so I'm running it as my last resort. Also, a nice feature is you can download any version, then run the updater, and it'll give you the newest one. :D

I got it from suprnova, and as long as you update it when you set it up it is the same as getting the new one off of the NOD32 site

Does anyone know how I can get rid of the worm W32.HLLW.Gaobot.gen? I got it a few days ago and it hasn't really messed up anything, but I hear it takes information from your computer and sends it through an IRC client to someone who can then put more viruses on your computer.

Symantec has a program to get rid of it. It didn't work. I tried to get rid of it by manipulating the registry. Also didn't work. I'm getting frustrated.

FUCK.

McAfee kept coming up with a warning saying that ActiveShield (the part that continually protects my computer) wasn't working correctly, and needed to be reinstalled. No big deal, right? So, I try to install it again, but it says that I have to completely uninstall it. This is where it gets stupid. For some reason, the Virus Scan was not in my Add/Remove programs (though the Firewall and Security Center were). After trying a number of things, I decided to start from scratch.

Fuck.

So, I try to reinstall everything, but I still can't really uninstall the VirusScan. I tried to uninstall the whole security center, but I first had to uninstall each part (Virus Scan and Firewall). So, I uninstalled the firewall, and tried to reinstall it. Now, however, it's been more than 30 days since I bought the damned thing, so McAfee won't let me update/reinstall their fucking product online without starting to pay nominal service charges

So right now, my VirusScanner isn't working (not actually protecting my computer) and my Firewall is completely out of date.

Fuck.

My question to you is:

Since I now have to go buy a new one, which is better: McAfee or Norton.

Josh, don't give me this "NOD32" crap, because I'm just asking about these two programs.

It's not that I don't think it will work, it's just that I knew that he would bring it up, and I'm just looking for opinions on McAfee and Norton.

I have Norton on my computer now. It was already installed when I got it, and I haven't touched it. It doesn't fuck with me, and I don't fuck with it. We get along fine. Though, I did allegidly get a virus when someone was fucking around on my computer a little while ago. Which seemed really messed up. I never had anything to do with that one though....So I can't really tell you what it was or anything.
But other then that I haven't had any virus problems at all.
