New Album

Post by reza »

What do you guys want to see on the new album? Anything to lyrics, to artworkd to whether or not they list the songs on the actual physical C.D.

before everyone starts ripping on you for being new and making this topic,
i'll give you an answer.

i want something creative.... something with layers and a lot of effort and great lyrics. something that doesn't scream Radio Rock and reminds me of the OLP glory days. I'm not saying i want another Happiness or SM, hopefully they keep on evolving and not shying away from new directions.

That being said, i don't have my hopes up. It'll probably be a decent album. Just nothing too special.

As far as artwork, albums 2-4 were pretty neat. it would be bad-ass if they brought Sol(sp?) back for the cover... but i think that's out of the question.

I don't really have any expectations. I just trust the boys to come up with something spiffy that I'll like.

i want about the same thing, with the return of Raine's voice, Jer's drums. And hopfully some epic songs largely guitar driven
"How can we justify spending so much on destruction and so little on life?" Matthew Good

"The white dove is gone, the one world has come down hard, so why not share the pain of our problems, when all around are wrong ways, when all around is hurt, i'll roll up in an odd shape and wait, untill the tide has turned.....with anger, i'm dead weight, i'm anchored"- IME, God Rocket (Into the Heart of Las Vegas) ^ Some say this song is about a terrorists thoughts before 911

"Pray for the sheep" Matt Good
"But it's alright, take the world and make it yours again" Matt Good

I felt it in the wind, and i saw it in the sky, i thought it was the end, i thought it was the 4th of July.

I'm hoping for the song titles to not be written on the disk. If they are I'm going to be very disapointed and proclaim the new album the worst one to date.

not really though.

What I'm actually hoping for is that there's going to be at least on really artistic and sorta weird song that'll make the normal people who aren't cool enough to like OLP be like "What the hell? :wtf: " and then I can point and laugh at them. If that made no sense, basically I'm hoping for one song sorta like stealing babies or consequence of laughing.

after seeing footage of some, and seeing one of last years shows, and hearing songs from the new album (not afraid, talk is cheap, walking in circles, wtsoyf etc...) which i really like so far. so they're good songs...

as for graphics... we all know they havent kept a logo for longer than 2 years, the logo/text is always chaning. i think they'll steer clear from the GRAVITY olp font. and use the russian star style text.

I want a creative title that makes people say, "WTF?" although... I kind of think that IME beat OLP in that category with "Quicksilver Meat Dream" just because... do I really have to explain that?

And a kick ass cover would be nice...

But it doesn't really matter.

OLP owes me nothing.

I'd really like the cd to be somewhat similar to clumsy. Well, i actually believe thats the best they can do after hearing their words on the new cd. I'd love it if they went back to a SMish style, but clumsy would be very nice. I mean, i don't want them to copy the cd, but a similar sound. I don't want it to be stereotypical alternative rock.

I can't say that i believe these hopes will be met, but if they do, i will be very happy.

Which one ??? Did you go to the icky-Avril-ness?
Open your eyes to nights and days, you close them up and float away
and somehow inbetween you've got to master lying to yourself
you back the cause, get out of school, you get a job, the job gets you
and somehow every day you end up serving somebody else
now if that ain't panic that you're feeling, then you damn well better start
you can drive it into that head of yours with the hammer in your heart.

And it's alriiiiiiiight now, take the world and make it yours again.

I'd like to see a complete 180º from Gravity, which means about 170º from what we've heard so far.

In other words, I'm hopeless. :(

To explain better, I'd like some amazing lyrics, ala the first four albums, some better guitar (in-yo-face isn't all it's cracked up to be), Jer needs to get his groove back (like Stella, though I've never seen the movie, I can only assume she's a drummer. ), Duncan needs to come more to the foreground and do some cool riff, Raine needs to stop mumbling and moaning and start singing and hitting the high notes (I volunteer to kick him in the nuts, if that's what it takes).

i know im asking for too much but i just want something that's frickin' timeless. not something that is just going be a flavour of the week but something taht people 20 years from now can look back on and say "hell yeah...that was awesome." but the direction they seem to be going in, they might be pretty close to that since most "timeless" rock music seems to be more political than anything.

You have high expectations. No matter what they come up with, I dont think your going to be happy.

and if the evil face is your "sig" why don't you put it in your signature insted?

I wouldn't mind that OLP logo with the weird O being the new one. Just so long as they keep changing it every album.
I just wanna get out,

the only thing I like to see is maybe a special package like so many bands are doing now where you get an extra cd.

as faras artwork goes. I kind of liked when they weren't really on the cover. This way people aren't focusing on the image of the band but the music.

I think they should call it OLP-7

as in Our Lady Peace's 7th release. sort of like how Peter gaberial use to put numbers, chicago did etc.

It would be good if it was like finger 11 cd is. Not that plastic ones that break.

I feel love, I feel a power. It comes to me in the darkest hour. And I want to feel it again

I remember once when SWV and Tracy Chapman each came out with albums named "New Beginning" and they were released within five months of one another. It can be done.
