gah, i can't figure out how to do this.
i have a song on my computer, an mp3 file, but i need it really really loud. how do i do that? do i need a different program or is it really easy to do? i have sound forge...if you can do that on it

Actually, I'd like the same thing. I've got a few songs that are recorded by an indie band, and for some reason the tracks are quieter than the rest of my music...

yeah, you can "normalize" it
in soundforge 7, it's under Process -> Normalize

Go to preferences, click on "effects", and click the check box next to "Sound Check". It makes it so all your mp3s play at the same volume.
