I think that article is a bad generalization. The same thing happens in America with football athletes. They're held on a pedestal by SOME, but not all, football fans when they deliver bone-crushing tackles. I don't know, I think Jim Kelley was just looking for something to write about. He does a lot of sports talk shows in Buffalo for local stations, and he usually has very valid arguments. I think that article is just waaaay too generalized.
Don't say we're healing when it's just not what we do...
last night was the last game of the season and all the player took thier jerseys off like they do every year and gave them to some lucky fans, and guess who was in the building , yes todd!!
As long as hockey allows and encourages fighting, this shouldn't be as big of a deal. Very insensitive I know, as it was a cheap shot, but it was just bad luck that he got seriously hurt. No one says anything when 2 guys are punching each other in the face, in fact, they cheer. Sure its serious, but it's also hypocritical in my opinion.
I can't wait until the day schools are over-funded and the military is forced to hold bake sales to buy planes.
