Best Music Player Software...?

What's the best program for playing music on a computer? I'm looking for something that produces a really good sound with MP3s (though I'd like support for all audio file types). I've been using Winamp, but I tired playing around with the sound in WMP, and I can get a much better sound (though still not quite what I want).

What do you use? What do you recommend?

In all seriousness, I don't know of any such programs.

Have you tried looking for plugins for winamp that might give you the desired effect?

I downloaded Winamp 5 (I've been using 2), and found the MMD3 skin (amazing skin). This one allows me to fine tune bass and treble somewhat separately from the EQ, so I'm able to get the sound I want much better!

Why is it that sometimes some videos won't open (it'll just play the audio from them), while at other times the same videos open fine? :Johnathan:

Is the audio playing but the picture is frozen?

it does that when it has to open the video thingy, you have to have it open first then play the video, and it won't happen.

how big a difference has it made?

what adjustments did you make?

and, should I check it out when I'm running on a set of two budget speakers without a sub?

That whats happining to me. Every time I go and watch the 2000 ACC show, the first few seconds are frozen but, the audio is workin fine. wtf?

This requires some pondering on my half

Definately worth checking out (particularily the MMD3 skin). No matter what your speakers are, it'll still help the sound quality and levels be closer to what you like.

P.S. Get new speakers. :mrgreen:

the only time videos haven't played for me on winamp are divx files. there's sound and just a green screen. they can only be played with the divx player.

I use Winamp for all my audio, and Classic Media Player for all my video. I suggest you all do the same. :nod:

i never use media player unless i have to. mines take longer than it should to load so i never use it.

No, not WMP... Classic Media Player. It loads in about a second, just like old school WMP (and also looks just like old school WMP). But it's better, cos it plays Quicktime and RealMedia if you install "QuickTime Alternative" and "Real Alternative".
